    Gen2 - Spun a bearing

Unless you are going to add a blower in the future, then no real reason to choose a Aluminator over a stock gen3 shortblock. Highly recommend the LM intake only cams. AED oil scraper is good to have and yes most decent headers will give you a bump in power in the midrange... Dont like the fancy...

    New 3 year old tires.

It should be ok. As long as it was not stored in outdoors or had sun on them.Assuming it was on sale..... If they were at list price then take them back!

Gen2 Engine Rebuild Needed or not?

OEM Gen 3 blocks are great. Easy to take them all the way to 500rwhp.. After building several forged motors... Just going with the gen 3 block is the better way to go.

    295/35R18 Michelin PS2

295/35-18 really should be on at least a 18x10 wheel. Because its a 35 with a taller profile, it could fit on a 18x9.5 but it would not have a very good contact patch and would be fairly wobbly. Michelins are great tires but if they do tend to cycle out quite quickly, at least in my experience.

    coolers for road racing?

948 is great for the track but it will depend on how much power your putting out. If your motor is stock then you might not need it. Your 10spd will need a lot of cooling to give you more then 2 hot laps on track. The 6 speed auto was much more tolerant to heat.

Cool!! That's only a few tenths slower then Randy Pobst in the 911 GT2 RS and faster then Randy in a 720S. Fast!!

New shocks / springs for street track setup?

Race buddy of mine had a S197 with a 100 shot of Nitrous oxide. He purchased a set of Yellow racing coilovers with camber plates for US$1000 and I'll be damned, If I screwed up, he would be on me in blink of an eye... Well not as fast as the Cortex setup, he did scare a lot of Porsches.

New shocks / springs for street track setup?

Would agree with the ford Performance setup as I have helped several friends get them and they had great results. But, have to disagree about having to spend more the $5K. Down here we have two S197 cars with the basic Cortex koni coilovers and both cars are fast and punch way above their...

New shocks / springs for street track setup?

this is a quick list from LMR.COM. But you can make the list up at Summit or any other seller as well. Either Koni or Bilstein would be about the same priceA very popular and successful kit is the Ford Perf. kit. Not the most adjustable, but you know it would work.

V2 Bama tune safe for the track?

Thats a pretty conservative tune with very few added HP. Not a fan of Bama canned tunes, they feel risky to me. Its much better to get a custom tune with some one who logs the car before, during and after the final tune. Shaun at AED is very good and the difference is truly night and day.

New shocks / springs for street track setup?

You can put together a Bilstein kit for about $1500, which is very reasonable. I really liked the basic cortex/koni setup for $2795 and later upgraded the shocks to DA for SA. The Cortex setup lets you hang with and beat Porsche GT4's so its doing something right. Found the base cortex setup...
