Is there something special about 2014 exhaust manifolds on S550s vs. later years? Do they flow freer or have some packaging advantages or are the seen as all the same?

Yes you are correct my brainfart but question still holds. There are race classes allowing the 2014 exhaust manifolds in 2015+ S550 chassis and I am wondering why?

Can you remove cats in that class? I think I've heard of people putting the S197 headers on the S550 because both catalytic converters bolt onto the headers, whereas on the S550 one side has it integral to the header.

Maybe that is it? Perhaps it was not a performance advantage just a packaging one and ease of service issue. It will be faster and easier for me to cut the cat and weld a 2 or 3 bolt flange plate to the header and bolt-on cat delete pipe. I'm dangerous with my welder and sawzall. Thanks thelo
