NICE write-up NFSBOSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anybody that is having trouble contacting MGW just pick up the phone and call. It's that easy. The ladies that answer the phone are very personable. Give it a try!!!

I just returned from George's place in Augusta with my new shifter. He was gracious enough to install it free of charge. This is the latest design with the new side braces, securing the shifter solely to the trans unit. I highly recommend the composite knob as well for track use. It is grippy, large, and looks sick. The best part was listening to George talk about his favorite track car, his 302s.

Simply amazing that MGW is already out with a newer version of the Race Spec

Isn't this a '15 specific version? I guess you can always use a stifflers loop!

Thanks for the review. Just ordered my Gen IV to replace my current MGW shifter. George is now a patron saint of us MT82 tranny owners.

Note that George decided not to sell an assembled version as discussed in the video.

had george told you when they starts with the shipping?

The race spec design is for the 2011-14 and the 2015. The 2015 is slightly different to allow fitting for the GT and Ecoboost. It's my understanding that this will be the only design for future orders, once the priors run out.

Anyone know if the Gen IV offers any benefit over the Gen III or just redesigned to work with the other models??

Yes it is improved in the way the Gen IV connects to the transmission. There is a video online that explains the change. All the ones being sold now are updated.

I was going to order the new Gen IV Race-Spec until I talked with the technical rep at MGW. I asked if the new Gen IV would work with the BMR driveshaft loop that I have installed and he told me no that it would not. He said that the folks at BMR were looking at redesigning their DS loop. I called and spoke with Kelly at BMR, their Mustang specialist and he said he was aware of the problem and wasn't sure if they were going to go through with the redesign of the DS loop to accommodate the bigger shifter box of the MGW. I also informed him that I had the 3 1/2 one piece aluminum Dynotech DS and he said that also was an additional concern. I asked him about running a Stifler bracker and he said he was unsure if that DS loop would work. Only option at this point is for me to drop the BMR DS loop and run without if I want to install the Gen IV so it seems...

I am running the Race Spec MGW shifter I installed last month and have the BMR front driveshaft safety loop. Originally I had to add a few shims on the safety loop because my one piece 3.5" DSS driveshaft was too close. To get the new MGW version to fit right, I had to remove those shims and something odd happened. No driveshaft/loop issues either. So far, on the street, I haven't experience any problems but my wheel tyme has been limited by winter.

Tymeslayer...Thanks for your input. MGW is now only shipping the new and improved Race-Spec shifter Gen IV which has a different mounting system than the previous Gen III Race-Spec shifter. I got it straight from MGW that the Gen IV would not work with the BMR loop. I'm sure someone smarter than me will come up with some sort of fix for that.

Not sure which version of the Race Spec shifter I got but I was one of the first for the Race Spec and believe I got one out of the first batch. They must have changed the size of the shifter box on these latest generation Race Spec shifter?
