CM-6731-FL820 is massive & more filter material over the FL500. Both will work fine especially if you change oil and filter frequently might save money by just sticking with FL500. I think the CM-6731-FL820 also is a thicker body - I've had a close call before with swaybar saddle exploding and had the grease zerk almost puncture the oil filter but it held up.
There's a Motorcraft FL820S filter and a Ford Racing FL820 filter. There is a huge difference in cost between the two. Which one are we talking about here?
All good info, but I just go with recommendations from a Ford Performance Racing School Instructor as well as a Ford Engineer, who each stated the 820 is both stronger with better filtration for racing than the others. That was good enough for me and there are sites to buy them at a reasonable price.
