GT350 Carbon Fiber Drive Shaft Options

Has anyone installed a DSS CF drive shaft yet? Are there any other options out there? I was very surprised that after the 13/14 GT500 came with a CF DS that the 350's didn't come with one as well. Lots of speculation on the NVH or cost factors as being the reason why Ford didn't develop one for the car. Regardless I'm considering one as probably the only performance mod (if you can call it that) to my GT350.

I consider upgrading the DS a performance mod, especially when it replaces a heavy 2-piece unit with a center hanger assembly.

On the Boss I could actually feel a difference on standing start WOT events. One of my top 5 list mods.

IMO, of course, but I'm pretty confident you'll have a similar experience.

Good Luck,

My goal with a DS upgrade is to have my car come off of corners a bit quicker. When on track with Porsche 991 GT3's the cars have similar performance stats other than the 0-60 times in which a GT3 kills the GT350. The 60-130 times are very close. Where I notice a difference is exiting corners on track and the GT3 gets out of corners quicker. There are two reasons for this. The biggest is the PDK and it's ability to select the proper gear for maximum acceleration. While I could improve some of my corner exits by grabbing a lower gear in many instances I choose not to as I don't want to totally beat on my car. The other is the inherent weight transfer and subsequent traction with the rear engine 911. If a lighter DS will help me exit corners a bit quicker I'll be happy.

Rick, I just remembered; I need to get you in contact with the Spicer rep that I spoke to at SEMA about making an aluminum ds for the GT350......

Driving a car that weighs 400 pounds more than a GT3 and that has a higher center of gravity doesn't help either. The lower gear thing is overrated though - I've looked at my sector times with an inbound downshift and a post-exit upshift vs holding a higher gear. Unless the corner speed puts you in a really awkward place on the power curve, the time it takes to upshift eats up most of the time gained with faster acceleration.

I forget where I saw it but somebody said the DSS would be willing to make a custom CF shaft for the GT350. Though I'm not sure why they wouldn't just offer it as a standard item at that point. They're all made to order anyway AFAIK.

Well it arrived June 1st and all I've had time to do is take it out of the box and take a few pic's and weigh it ! If I'd stop flying to Asia every other week I'd get it installed !

More to come soon.............

I've been sitting on mine new in the box since the car has been down for 6mos for blow trans. I have a tech pkg

I custom ordered mine from DSS to be a dampened version for 100 more. They put a foam core inside to absorb harmonics. This was necessary for the Hellcats so when I ordered for the Hellcat I requested the dampener be added. There will be a -D at the end for dampened versions.

@VoodooBoss I'd be willing to part with mine I guess and save you some green . I would require some knowledge also mainly on the wheel studs to go square tire you've had a few different setups not sure which is current. PM me..
