Has anyone used 305/660R18 slicks on an S550? That is what I have been running on my S197. It would be nice if I could use the same wheels (SVE Drifts) and tires (Pirelli take offs) if I take the plunge to the IRS world.

Thanks

The tires will be just fine.

The issue will be whether or not the wheels fit. What size/offset wheels and what brake calipers are you looking at using?

The wheels are +43mm offset 7.2" back spacing. I was just going to use with the Performance Pack Brembo's or if I can work a good enough deal on a GT350 then I'd be using their stock brakes as well.

The 18" aren't going to fit over the massive GT350 front brakes. They might fit over the PP brakes.

Thanks. That's good to know. If that works out I'll just have to plan to sell those wheels and tires and get some 19's I guess. Just curious, I'm kind of new here (posting anyway), in your earlier response you just posted "@voodoo child21". Does that just tag a person to bring their attention to the thread?

According to the LMR the 18x10 SVE Drift wheels will fit the s550's and it says clears Brembo brakes. I'd still want to confirm that. They don't show any customer pics with those wheels and the 6 piston Brembo's.

I run Team Dynamics 18x10 wheels with +43 offset on both my S197 and S550 Mustangs with 15" 6 Piston Brembo brakes. On the S550 a 5mm spacer is needed on the front, although I run H&R hubcentric 15mm spacers. Forgestar CF5 wheels in 18" also clear as well as HRE FF15s in 18".
Ford racing 18x10 BBS wheels also work and any of the Forgeline wheels that the PWC/Continental Tire Series Mustangs run. Those SVE Drift wheels will not clear 15" brakes.

S550 likes a 35mm offset up front when running 19x10's, it will clear the strut. It works well front and back but I still run a .650" spacer up front to move the wheel out to the edges. My car's ability fars exceeds mine so I just run 'cheap' 19X10 Performance Pack Replicas(Heavy but still a pound or two lighter than OE) and 285-35/19 BFG g-Force Sport COMP-2's

As posted above most common race wheels run 40+mm offsets so extended studs with an 8-15mm(15mm being the better choice because it's both hub and wheel centric, not just a flat spacer) spacer up front opens up track wheel options greatly and allows a square set-up( something else these cars benefit greatly from) and the ability to rotate tires. Plus the light weight wheels that are mass produced are fairly low cost.

I never followed back up on this. What had happened was my 2014 GT was rear ended and instead of having it repaired and trusting on the track again I traded it in on the SBY Laguna Seca you see in my avatar. So for now my wheels and tires are working fine though I have been tempted to move to IRS still. Just because I feel like I should drive the LS as much as I do on the road. :)

S550 GTPP with 305/30-19 PSC2's on 6GR 19x11 ET50...square.

ARP 3" studs, 20mm black anodized Motorsport Tech spacers..."enough" strut-to-sidewall clearance. No (stock) fender rub even at full dynamic loading.

Maximum Motorsport camber plates, -2.5 deg at front, -1.7 at rear...zero total toe F/R (sorta - lol).

Driven to the track...and three days on it. No sign of unanticipated tire wear issues...so far.

The suspension and chassis seems to be keeping the tires happy...camber seems to be nearly perfect.

^ We have a nearly identical set-up. Only differences being I have SVE GT350 replicas (19X11 ET50) and I am running a little less camber in front at -2.3 and a little more in the rear -1.8.

RES_22, do you have any pics of your car? I'm wanting to do a similar setup on mine.
TIA

It's a good idea to go square with the offset...50mm.

Then use a 20ish or greater spacer on the front... I meant that I was going to try a 23mm front spacer...:)

This will permit you to cross-rotate the wheels and extend tire life...esp if you are tracking the thing frequently.
