Well , no problem , at 65 I am just a spry youngster , and I can help you around the track ------you are bringing your Hoveround , right?

Seriously, have about 4,000-6,000 miles around the track in various machines and instructing , so we will make sure you know all the secrets!!

Excellent. Look forward to any tutelage I can get.

By the by, I'm way to young to need a Hoveround, whatever the hell that is. o_O

as of now I intend to be there as a spectator again this year... this is a must see event at the very least... would love to be on track, but my cancer recovery is not predictable as of now... maybe later this summer that could change... I have been to all but the first one, and only missed it because I didn't know about it... it has become the boss highlight of my year... in 2016 I got unplugged from chemo on Friday and drove up on Saturday... it is that good...

Remember there is a rumor that a Ford GT may just show up at this event, since most of the participants are Trackus Rodentus , and they figure said Genus would appreciate this beast !

Rumors be rumors, most know there is a GT in that neighborhood, and the only way to know is to show up and see it. Roughly a month out sign up today! I threw down one of my best laps today, (think it was my best lap) and that was without hitting my lines and on "junk tires," so we know the track is in great shape!

George has been the Guru of track prep this year. At an earlier event I attended ( did not drive , unfortunately) he was out there dragging tires around like he thought he was at a one groove Nascar track?! Everyone was putting down solid times, so expect some rubberized surface coming up for us in September. Heck I don't even know if it works , but it is fun to see George out there working what he thinks is his new magic. I think he is almost having as much fun doing this as driving the Bacardi Bus -- which is another highlight of the event, to say the least!! I think some drivers come just to say they road in the Bacardi Bus -- it is a badge of honor to many!

Got in some laps last weekend at NASA just to get re-acquainted with the track before the Roundup. If I can only hit one track event a year it would be this one. Maybe Bill will show me how to drive his old car faster as I search for that elusive 1.39 lap time. I did get turn 3 at about 85 a couple of times so I might have that one figured out. Only 12 more turns to go...;)

Things change, schedule wise , for anyone, get in your Stang and head West, or East , depending on your place of residence, as we still have some spots open due to the weather anomalies of 2017 -- Fire, Rain, Hurricane, Flooding, and Tornadoes. Show up and George will take your money , and I will find you a cold beer to slake your thirst from you long or short drive.

Special Thanks go to Todd Soderquist and his fellow employees at Ford who donated some very cool items for the Mustang Roundup Charity Auction. We have been doing this Auction for all 7 years of the event and the money goes towards a BackPack Program the Food Bank of the Heartland started years ago for the nearly 90,000 school children in Nebraska and Western Iowa who go home hungry over the weekend during the school year. Woodhouse has sponsored this program for years and we were able to help raise 1.3 million last year. The irony is in the State that produces the most beef, second in corn production ( Iowa is in first in corn), that any children should be going home hungry. The race participants have always been generous and we raised $2210 at this year's Mustang Roundup. This would not have been possible without Todd's help as he gave rides in a new Ford GT for each $100 donation. That along with the items Ford and Woodhouse brought, got us to a nice total and that will be enough to feed 14 children for one school year.

PS - Props to Reggie McCollough who whipped up on me in the Modified Class with his Comp Orange Boss 302 during the Time Trials. Sure, the old man came back during the Autocross, but with Reggie's fast runs ( and a lot of them ) he grabbed the " Top Pony Award " for the Modified Class. Good running with you , youngster, but before you get too cocky, remember you beat a guy old enough to be your father, ha,ha. You looked great out there and have a feeling I am going to have to be at the absolute top of my game to keep up with you in the future?!

I would have been all over a ride in a GT for $100 for charity. Shoot I'd probably done a couple.

Anyone got any photos?

Always a great weekend in Hastings, Track was good and hospitality was great. The ride in the Ford GT was amazing, think I am still smiling from that.

Always great running with you Bill, probably the only time I will be able to beat you on the track without cheating. Next year I will make sure I take your glasses, oxygen tank, or something.
