Converting a GT350 to GT350R

Aside from cosmetics, I'm just focusing on the performance parts. I want to include all parts that can convert a GT350 to GT350R.

Front splitter
Rear wing
Front springs
Rear springs
Rear sway bar
Carbon Fiber wheels
Cup 2 tires
Rear seat delete

Am I missing something?

Not to be a Humbug, but the cost of the wheels and rear spoiler aside would make the juice not worth the squeeze....

I really wanted an R but couldn't find one for under $10K adm two years ago so I made my own. I'm using CF splitter and wing on a new deck lid, along with lighter APEX EC-7 wheels and SC2 tires that shed 10 lbs per corner. I also have a RSD with a Watson Racing roll bar installed along with CC plates and FP lowering springs. You can read more about it below.

You have the main items. In addition to no trunk trim/carpet, the R has these trunk supports to (I believe) absorb the downforce from the wing:

Also the R has a smaller radiator grille opening, to reduce lift.

My trunk lid has the bump stops, but the body doesn’t appear to have these trunk supports because I have the plastic cover which supports the trunk lid bump stops, as I have the electronics package. The trunk supports may be under the plastic cover as it is really firm support for the downforce.

Having owned and driven both cars the R is more than just the sum of its parts. You can buy all the components, but the tuning for the suspension and ABS also makes a difference.

Regardless if you buy all the components I don't think you will truly be able to make the cars the same, and that shouldn't be your goal. Build the car to what you want it to be, so that you are always happy with it. If what you truly want is an R, then just wait and find one at the price that is right for you. That would be my advice.

I will say the R wing will give a large performance boost to any S550 car on track. Carbon2Carbon makes a great version, that looks great and performs great for $1900. The carbon wheels are ridiculously priced but a set of Forgelines for 1/3 the cost would be worth the weight savings. Same for the rear seat delete. Don't think changing the dampers will gain much, high end coil overs if you are strictly track focused. I would love a real R but to retrofit all the parts it would make sense just to find one and buy it.

I was told that the GT350R engine has a different part number than the GT350 engine. Supposedly because the R has lightened internal parts. Sounds like internet rumor to me but stranger things have happened.

I don't believe so
@Black Boss I checked my car and those are the normal deck lid stops. Because your R is the stripped version it doesn't have the hard plastic trim piece for them to rest on so you have the additional pieces. I do not believe they have anything to do with the additional downforce from the wing.

The ABS module is calibrated differently on an R?

ABS calibration is different to account for the lighter wheels and cup 2 tires.
