This is good info as I am about to replace the clutch on my 13 Boss with 13K miles. I get locked out of 5th on the track and have decided enough is enough. So why the RST over the RXT? I also considered an Exedy from Kohr but couldn't decide on a single or twin disc. Exedy isn't cheap but after buying a lightweight flywheel the McCloud isn't either. So my question......go with a twin disc over single?

Get a twin disc - smaller diameter than the single disc results in less centrifugal force and positive disengagement. I run an RST... lockout problems solved.

How are you using your car? My Boss was a weekend track warrior and fun car. I installed the RXT and while it worked great on track it was a toggle switch on the street. It eventually broke-in and wasn’t too bad but it took the joy out of driving my car on the street hence my recommendation on the RST. Track only car I’d go the Exedy or RXT.

Rick,
it should be noted that McLeod does not recommend the RST for the Boss 302. According to McLeod, the organic lining can "balloon out" at high RPM. The Centerforce DYAD kit is a viable option. That's what I used to cure my High RPM issues. It's a really smooth clutch with a light pedal.

I am on my 3rd Transmission and 3rd Clutch in my Boss. Installed the Blowfish mount and that solved shift precision. Replaced the stock clutch with an RXT. The RXT failed and took out the second transmission.

Now have a twin plate Exedy that's been great, but the Tranny will get swapped for a Tremec this winter.

Aside from addressing the Cooling and Clutch/Transmission, the Boss has been remarkably robust -- over 12,000 hard track miles (180 hours) with just fluid and brake changes, plus PM on Front Hubs, Howe joints, etc.

Thanks for the replies. I thought hard about just going with the Tremec but since my transmission is, for the most part, fine it was worth trying the clutch option first. I have the race spec MGW already installed. I only drive my car on short trips during the summer. It will primarily be a track and hillclimb car (maybe 6-8 events per year). I am in the process of purchasing some serious track upgrades but the lock-outs really got me angry. I had the car for sale for the last two months and was going to get a 1LE Camaro or GS Corvette. I love the Boss but it needs a lot of upgrades (ie cash) to keep up with the competition. I decided to just bite the bullet, make some upgrades and enjoy the car.
