Weekend auto-x at Zmax in Concord, NC.

Some stiff competition (including Ryan Mathews for you Optima fans) landed me in P5 of 15 cars. My car and I really need to loose weight to be competitive. I have decisions to make.

As always... feedback is appreciated. I've only been doing autocross for 1 year. Still lots to learn.

Boone, saw your beautiful car at Zmax! I was running Cam C also in the Blue 2014 GT. My second event in the mustang, autocrossed a Subaru for a while. I will introduce myself next time.

I shall be humbled to meet you. Especially since you were P4 to my P5. ;) I run with Triad the majority of the time, but I'm going to eventually do more with CCR since they run more on Saturday, and that fits in better with my wife's work schedule.

Winter projects coming up since the auto-x season just ended. Suggestions on the following:

Rear LCA rolo brackets. Don't mind welding on.

Seats for 6'-3" / 250# / 38" waist. (No relationship offers please. This is not a personal add.) Wants: submarine belt slot, fixed back, street car convenience, stock 3-point belt compatible.

Thanks in advance.

Personally, I don't think the brands matter. But get ones that have the adjustment point(s) you want for your ride height. For example, I think the FR ones have a -2" and -3". Whiteline has a -4".

Are you going to Zmax on 3/3/18 event 1 of the new season?
I'm not signed up at this time, but I think that's a splendid idea. I'm heading up to VIR to run the Grand Course on 1/24 and the Full Course on 1/25, so if all goes well and the weather forecast doesn't suck, I'll sign up for Zmax and start getting some more Saturday parking lot races in.

I have been informed the in-laws will be in town this weekend. No AutoX this weekend for me. I'm not feeling sorry for myself, though. VIR this past weekend was successful, and I managed to get promoted to Solo drive group after only my 5th HPDE. I still feel like I suck, but I never left the track, and I never got passed unless I was cooling down the tires. Video of the amazing VIR Grand:

I just scored a set of Apex 19x10 ET40 wheels in a group buy. I plan to put some Pirelli DH slicks (295/680/19; two sets of take offs with 2 heat cycles - thank you Ferrari) on them and see how that works for me. I'm concerned that the added grip is going to overpower my coilover setup, but no plans to change that setup in the near future. I'm more concerned that I'm finally going to have so much grip that the stock seats MUST GO. I may as well make the leap to a fixed back seat. Time to study up since I'm not a jockey like most drivers. 6'-3" and 240 lbs makes seat choices a little more limited so I'd like to hear from my fellow fatasses out there. Still deciding on sliders or fixed mount. I'd like sliders so I can share my car with friends at the occasional autoX. Not sure how much that will affect the "feel" of the seat. Fixed mounts are definitely an option.

I added the OMP WRC-R XL for the passenger side about a month an a half ago and have had people similar to your build sit in it and they've been fine. I decided not to install sliders in mine as it would mainly be my girl friend riding with me so I tailored it to her position. With that said, shes 5'-8" and I've had passengers 6'-3"/4" sit in the same position and not be cramped. The seat barley cleared the door with about 1-2mm of clearance so if you have the 6-point roll bar it may be close to the door bar and would maybe have to mount the seat further to the inside of the car.

Seats are decided upon and I'm preparing to place an order to Vorshlag. Upfitting driver and passenger side because of the Golden Rule (Matthew 7:12). Going with the following:
Sparco EVO II seats
OMP low profile side mounts
Sparco seat sliders
Vorshlag slider adapters for S197 with attachment points for two sub belts and inboard lap belt mounts

The Vorshlag adapters are currently being redeveloped and improved with an '06 Mustang they are working on in house. I'll be patiently waiting for the first production set. They are supposed to improve the length of travel, vertical adjustment, and tilt of the seat mounting position. I'm just waiting on a final quotation and my 529 reimbursement check.

Woah woah woah, Vorshlag is making improved slider adapters? I anxiously await your report because I !@#$ing hate the sliders in my car. They were such a pain in the butt to install so that they weren't bouncing around. There's still a little bit of shimmy in the seat, but it's tolerable now.
