As you can see the lid lays over the edge of the boot and the bracket is already slightly to the right in this picture. Real estate wise there no movement of the can to the right but if I could slide the battery over another inch or so the the left, my worries would be over. It has been like this for years but only recently have I noticed the scuffing on the positive terminal boot.

Looks like your bracket might be on backwards? Mine are going toward the back and the vertical part is just in front of the insulation on the firewall. I think you should be able to flip the bracket and the breather can will go about 1"+ backward.

The bracket is the only thing between the can and the firewall but you know, I did fab the bracket myself and certainly could have done something wrong. I'm up in Washington state all week but I'll have to take a closer look when I get back.

I have drawings for a bracket that will tuck your can against the firewall if needed.

This battery does need to be charged/driven regularly
13.18V - Disconnected after charge and 24+ hrs of 13.6V float.
12.99V ~14 hrs.
12.92V - 1 day
12.85V - 1.5 days
12.82V - 2.5 days
12.75V - 3.5 days <---add/edit
12.71V - 4.5 days <---add/edit

Over 2 years with this battery in the Boss and it holds charge much better than initially reported.

Disconnected from a 13.6V float
13.05V - 1 day
12.93V - 6.5 days

The one in the GT is 2 1/2 years old and doesn’t hold a charge as well. But it’s maintained with solar panel(s) so it is still a daily cyclical charge unlike the continuous 13.6V float.
