All 2018s comes with the Quaife limited slip front diff, which costs about $1200 plus install on prior years. The US is getting 1500 2018 RSs, split between blue and red, and other than the front LSD, the only changes are some carbon trim and a black roof.

I may eventually add the LSD to mine but, honestly, I am not sure how necessary it is since the car steers and grips like nothing I have ever driven. A little less torque steer would be nice but it's not a big deal.

Yes, I still have mine and love it! I put Mountune sport springs (.6" drop f/r) which helped settle the pogoing quite a bit. Also added cc plates (2.1 degrees front camber) and 19x9 CF5s with 265/30/19 AD08Rs. The car handles just incredibly (I have owned 3 Evos so love this type of car. This thing outhandles them no contest). Oh, plus a tune and bigger intercooler and Borla S Type and . . .

I have driven several Fiesta STs and Focus STs and really liked them and if I was a teenager I would be in heaven with one. However, for us of a certain age and expectation, the RS is just a million times better.

I've got two RS's in the family and agree with the above. the cars are absolute riots to drive. a few small tweaks (springs and a tune, lightweight wheels / sticky tires) and you've got an absolute beast on your hands. My daughter and I co-drove in stock class (B street) autocross and it's a hoot out there...on just about every course we would outrun well-driven GT4's and solid vettes. Great car to learn in, Rick...your kids will thank you. ;-)

I autocrossed a Focus RS last year with pretty decent success... The RS needed the LSD for autocross, it would spin the inside front tire pretty often... It needed better shocks more than anything else though.

I really want to try an '18 RS LE to see if the LSD makes the improvement that I think it would.

DocWalt - what shocks/coilovers have you been looking at? I feel like the Mountune springs (which only lower the car .6") have eaten up too much upward wheel travel sometimes - it bounces off the bumpstops too frequently.

I was running in SCCA street class, so I'd have stuck with stock springs and made up perches for some aftermarket coilovers. I drove a car at the ProSolo finale on JRZs with stock springs and they were much better than stock but pricey. I'd likely do the KW coilovers though.

If I was free to do mods, I'd probably do Ohlins and put proper spring rates on it (IIRC the rates they chose are... odd)

Thank you for that info, DocWalt! I wasn't even aware that Ohlins has dampers for our cars so I will look into them. I have KW V3s on my Boss and overall am very happy with them but the RS ones lower the car way too much for my tastes (1"+ minimum drop).

I'm not sure Ohlins actually released them yet, now that I think about it...

Yeah, most coilovers for the RS lower the car too much :(
