Decrease hood lift

are there any simple ways to decrease hold lift on the 350 or do I need an aftermarket hood?

It’s not lifting really. You may see a bit of movement at speed but it’s not popping up and going to open up. How are the body lines with the hood closed? Everything lined up? You may be able to adjust the hood latch down and or raise the corner bumpers to keep good tension on it. I don’t really see mine moving around at speed. You have a lot of air flowing in with the coolers and the bellypan. Creates pressure on the hood.

One member put weather stripping between the top of the lights and the hood to keep the air out at those points and it worked well.
 
I could of sworn there's a thread somewhere on here showing the 350's hood lifting at Daytona. I've noticed the hood lift/float around 130-140mph. It's pretty trippy.

One of the guys on here added a vent & pinned his hood. @spartan Does your hood vent help control hood lift or was it just for heat extraction? Both?

Both for heat and lift. Works great with no issues.

@Kevin Guzniczak _ I should have stated its not lifting it just flutters like a hummingbirds wing at about 90+MPH. Its just very annoying.
@VoodooBoss Thanks for the info. Ill check it out.

Hmm. I haven’t noticed the flutter at 90+ but that’s when I’ve been on the track and was occupied with running the course. I’ll watch close to see if I observe flutter.

For sure it's a thing with my S550, it was pretty bad, even dirty air coming off big trucks on the highway would set that thing shaking like mad. I seem to have solved it with weatherstripping over the headlights and down the sides of the hood. Ford didn't run the rubber down the sides all the way to the lights, sealing that seems to be worthwhile. Also added some real vents in place of the turn signals in the hood, big thank you to @RES_22 for that part of the puzzle! It's not completely gone but it is way better than it was, not enough to worry about now.

Here's a couple I just shot them quickly with the cell phone. Right over top of the headlight and then up the fender flange to where Ford ended their weatherstripping.

Good thinking on the weatherstripping on the sides. I’ve added it above the headlights, but I hadn’t thought to add it to the sides where the OEM weatherstripping stops. I’m going to the track again this weekend. We’ll see if this helps.

Hood flutter at my last couple track days was significantly reduced after I added the over-headlight weatherstripping and raised the hood stops to exert pressure on the hood.

I think adding the hood vents to where the turn signals used to live in the hood has helped as well, that has to be helping reduce pressure under the hood. And again to give credit where it's due, @RES_22 is the facilitator and brainiac behind these changes, I am just the student....:D
 
Adding heat extractors should virtually eliminate any hood lift, only downside is you will be cutting apart your hood. I am having a set prototyped for my 2018gt that will go in soon. I drive through palm springs every weekend and am in a 50+ mph headwind going 70 on the fwy and the hood lift is noticeable. Should be gone after the extractors are done hopefully
 
As a follow-up, I had my GT350 (which has a functional heat extractor from the factory) on track this past weekend, with the added weatherstripping at the front sides of the engine bay. (I previously had it only over the headlights.) I continued to notice what I would consider "buffeting" at speeds over ~110 MPH, but all in all, it is considerably better than it was during my first track day with the car. (On that day, I actually pulled into the pits and asked a track worker to ensure that my hood was actually latched, because the hood was shaking so much that I was convinced it wasn't.) The "good enough for me" fixes I have done are:
- Raising the hood stops to exert pressure on the corners of the hood;
- Adding weatherstripping over the headlights; and
- Adding weatherstripping from the headlights along the side edge of the engine bay, up to the point where the factory weatherstripping starts.

Hope others find this information helpful.

Did you have your driver window down during this time? I find the buffeting from having it down is just right off the charts over 100 mph, seems to shake the whole interior of the car and on videos it completely overwhelms any other sound. Put it up and the noise drops by 1000 percent and it's a completely different world. But having it up can be a pain in the ass, depending on the run group I'm in. Wish there was a fix for that one.
 
Actually, I was talking about buffeting of the hood, not the interior. FWIW, every group I've tracked the car with requires both windows down when on track, even when it's raining.
