I have been lucky enough to get my self back up on top of our category and the way the points are now, all will be decided in Nov, when we have a three hour endurance race... We get a 10min break after an hour with a driver change and back out for an hour.

Will need to have a bigger fuel tank as my stock tank gives me about 30 min of track time. Any suggestions for a fuel cell that fits in the trunk?? Will be using a fresh set of P2000 Contis in 320/650-18. And if they don't last have another set of 295/30-19 R7s with about 70% life left.

For the race, the engine will have new valve springs and timing chain kit installed, Morosso oil pan as well as the CJ pump and LM intake only cam. Already have the tranny cooler installed and thats working well.

the hardest part is choosing the second driver..... The car is rather personal item!! and finding a driver I trust is the harder then I thought!

the Gloc brake pads worked great but went through a set in the last event.... So only about 2 hours of driving.... Will switch to a set of Pagid RSL 29 pads for the endurance race.

Any suggestions would be very welcome!!!

Good luck with the event. I'm retiring and will be available to drive. ;)

Carbotech has a R24 pad made for 24 hour endurance racing. Im using them and they have been great. 2 full weekends on them and still over 50% pad left . they are running about 275 degrees on front rotor temps immediately after a session. Easy on the rotor so far too. I would guess G-loc makes the same pad.

Get ahold of PNR Welding on Facebook, he may have a website as well. He fabs up some incredible tanks for fuel cells or cooling (drag cars). That MMR one is only 12 gallons and will not be sufficient at all. Paul at PNR will get you taken care of.

Are you sure its worth all the extra prep work, money and risk? Does it pay anything to win the points? What happens if the second driver crashes, will he pay for repairs? A typical 30 minute road race is normally plenty of time to sort out who is fastest that day. A 3 hr race will mostly come down to attrition.

Its the main race series we have in Chile and the final race of the year is worth almost half the points of the season. No money or free beer, just knowing you won.. Actually I compete with cars that are all out race cars, while mine is still street legal (with cats!!).. Thats part of the reasons we are at the top spot.....that car does not breakdown near as much as a 600awhp Subaru for example..... I have only won one race but I always place in the top 5 or so. A three hour race is almost perfect for me, as long as nobody crashes into me (or the other way round)...... Most of our races are only 20min... This is the exception.

As they say.... It is what it is!!

I am a bit surprised that you are only able to get 30 mins consistenly; I can run around 40-45 mins on a full stock tank, typically.

For what it's worth, if you are installing a fuel cell, get one that has a bladder. That is what really saves you if something goes wrong. Reputable manufacturers in the US are ATL (Aero Tec Labs), Fuel Safe, and Pyrotect.

I am having a 26-gallon ATL cell (PN SU126C) installed into my car right now, along with an in-tank trap-door surge tank.

I know in Chile you probably don't have the regulations w/ your driving club but it would also be a very good idea to follow NASA/SCCA regulations and close off that portion of the car from the driver compartment by use of a bulkhead.
The downsides are that this endeavor is not cheap and will change the CG of your vehicle as it's pretty difficult to get the fuel tank lower than the factory location.

Also--did you get that car caged yet?

I ran the numbers again from the 50 min I ran on Saturday, and yes your right I can get 45min from a full tank... That still leaves me a little light for the one hour though. I have the car semi caged to meet the local rules... Its a MM 6 pt roll bar with a added halo bar across the front with pillars to the front corners.... I think @Grant 302 was polite and called it funky on the forum.

I was looking at something like this for the fuel tank

Oh, and it rains quite often at this track in Spring... Would a new set of 275/35-18 Michelin Pilot 4s be good rain tire?

the track looks like this in Spring..... (Other end of the world)

I don't think I'd choose the 4s over the PSS for the rain. Maybe somebody who has had more rain/seat time with the 4s would chime in.

How long are you expecting the Contis to last? Can tires be changed at the 1 hour break in the 10 minutes?

Is this a new event for this year? I'd look into what previous winners did for consumables/tire and fuel management.

I think @Grant 302 was polite and called it funky on the forum.

LOL. When have you known me to be polite? :D ;)

Great , maybe the PSS would be a little cheaper.. The rules say we can change anything we want as long as it takes only 10mins.. Still have a pretty decent set of Contis that will do till the big race in Nov. then I would only have a New Conti set, a 70% set of smaller R7's and the Stock wheels with the "rain" tires.

Most of the people I know have never finished!! Usually engine problems after an hour. Planning to leave the Redline at 7000, since I have be abusing it lately

I can tell you that cage would not pass tech with most organizations up here. The bends in those front downbars are no bueno.

That being said--you're not "up here".
If the rules allow you to run that, that's your choice. Similarly, that is a pretty low-cost fuel cell. We have to run FIA-FT3 rated cells here which add to the cost, but we know they are tested.

One thing I was contemplating was to run an 8 or 12-gallon cell and have it pump into the factory filler neck. You could do that with a low-pressure carburetor-feeding electric pump, and just make sure to turn that pump on after a while so it doesn't overflow the factory tank. At the end of the day, it was just cleaner (and about the same amount of effort/cost) to just do a fuel cell large enough to hold a significant amount of fuel.
Without trying to sound condescending, I would strongly consider doing this per NASA/SCCA rules for your own personal safety. Hopefully you won't run into a situation where the cash and effort spent doing it "the right way" really pays off--but without the proper prep you could end up in a world of hurt or worse.

But one thing is certain--you are going to need to stop for fuel. Even with a 26-gallon tank I'd estimate being able to run about 65-86 minutes depending on WOT time at a given track.
Also I would anticipate that you are going to need to change at least one tire, probably the outside front. I'd have at least one extra tire and wheel ready-to-go, if not a whole set.

What are the chances of you getting a sponsor? Fabricator or Tire Company, Speed Shop who can get you a fuel cell? You put their Banner on your car for advertising and then you win the race! Sounds like if your car can stay put together and you have a little help you're a pretty good chance of winning.

True, the bends are a little optimistic I think ... Waiting for my shop to get a tube bending machine to see if we cant improve the design and and add some more support (also to make it easier to remove). But will probably have to wait for the off season (our summer, your winter)

I was hoping to do just that... have a the external tank feeding the main tank. Will look at best tank I can get... Will definitely look at closing off the rear section and adding a Sparco fire kit that we just got recently. Have the spare set of wheels and will try rotating at every pit stop.

LOL. Maybe put on a set of street tires, short shift and avoid the traffic. (Just kidding...mostly) How many cars finished in your class? Decent point gain if you don't podium?

Saw your latest video...I think you gotta make your downshifts a *lot* later there. A lot of mechanical over-revs downshifting too early IMO. Also seems late getting into full throttle. Hard to say not being in the car and looking at the course and video for the first time. You probably have the wrong (too steep) gearing for the course. I don't recognize it from any of your previous videos.

Which track is this enduro at?

Trying too!! But motorsports are still way at the end of the line here in chile... Also.. my buddies and I are the Hoosier tire reps for Chile... so we can sponser ourselves... ;(

Its my second race at this track. Last time was about 4 years ago... and yes not very happy about my shifting!! or driving for that matter. But it was new for most of us so that helped.

The enduro is in the south as the Interlomas track, much more at home on that one :)
