Its my second race at this track. Last time was about 4 years ago... and yes not very happy about my shifting!! or driving for that matter. But it was new for most of us so that helped.

The enduro is in the south as the Interlomas track, much more at home on that one :)

Cool. Is it running CW as shown? I only remember CCW videos!

I was thinking of the wrong track! Vizcachas? was flatter and ran CCW?

Looks like you're running 3rd, 4th and part/bottom of 5th gears at Interlomas. You could be running a taller gear like 3.55 or maybe even 3.31 and stay in 4th on the top end and only drop to 2nd for T9. Should save you the shift on the main straight and you're dropping to ~40mph in T9 where I'd tend to use 2nd even with 3.73s. Or try to use a 680 dia. slick? Might not be tall enough to keep you out of 5th.

Yes the Vizcachas, Codegua and Leyda tracks usually run CCW. The Contis were a tad taller the the 295/30-18 R7's..... Will calculate the 3.31, maybe I can avoid the weak 5th gear..... Have two MT82's and will go to the enduro with a new rebuilt one...

Yeah, make sure you have a spare wheel/tire on-hand to replace the driver's front tire, maybe both driver's side tires.

I was hoping to rotate after the first hour..... or maybe let my friend drive with me since he has a set of PC2 and almost new Hoosiers... Hmm, they are on 19" rims so that might help out as well.

My apologies for finding something else to spend your money on! :D

You might also want to look at how the gear change would affect the car at other tracks you run. Maybe make it 'optimal' for the fastest track you run and keep it in 4th there, if possible.

I should also mention that one of the 'benefits' of using 2-3-4 with the MT82 are the wider ratio spread/delta compared to 3-4-5. Our cars generally have more torque and RPM than an engine that benefits more from close ratios. I'd also prefer mainly using 3-4 to avoid mis-shifts. 2nd could be used for passing or defending in T9.

Over the years you have spent loads of my cash! Since we will be taking the engine out... is it easier taking it out from below on a lift with the tranny swap? or from above?? Maybe its a good time to change the engine mounts as well........

Was thinking about these Steeda engine mounts...

Avoid those. The urethane mounts don't like the heat.
Check out the Watson Racing solid mounts. I've run those for a few years on my car without any issue.

Yikes..... Solid!! Hmm but your right.... My poly bushing on my UCA melted last event... the axle slops around like some old ox kart...

The car still is street-able though... hmmm

Just wondering about engine mounts.... I see that ford racing has the part number M-6038-M50 and the regular part number is BR3Z-6038-C .... Or is it just that the ford racing kit has part of the other kit?

@captdistraction what did you end up doing for motor mounts? I believe not fully solid, correct?
I am running the BMR poly mounts.I was going to move them to their solid mount upgrade option, but the poly has really stood up well in that application (especially considering what I've seen other poly mounts do in those conditions). Also doesn't hurt in having a great resource at BMR (kelly) should it ever have an issue.

That said, buying new I'd consider solid unless there was an issue with false knock detection (which I hear is rare).

These are the mounts I spoke of above failing. They commonly fail (pancake out) on the right side. I'd avoid anything that brand to begin with, but I'd really avoid those particular mounts period. Watson is a great option, then I'd look at BMR, but otherwise any solid option would do

WRT the Steeda mounts failing, just wondering if people are using the Ford heat shields off the OEM mounts on these Steeda parts? I was told by Steeda that using these heat shields (as their instructions say to do) would prevent issues. Also said the black mounts were more durable but noisier. Also said there should be no issue with stock exhaust headers. I've only got 1 track day on them so too soon to tell but so far they seem OK. It's a dual purpose car so I really don't want solid mounts, the black mounts are noisy enough, if these Steeda ones crap out it will be BMR to replace them I guess.

What're friends for? :D Over 5 years if I can still count correctly!

I think from below using the lift makes most sense. I'd stay away from using the urethane types regardless of brand. If you do heat shields and direct mounted foil tape would help, but I'd keep them on a replacement schedule.

One of Grant's crazy old practices for dual-purpose cars was to replace only the driver side with a solid mount.

Yup time passes by quickly!! The Roadrunner is a amazing engine..... over five years running in every event possible.... and it still keeps on growling with only oil/filter changes

Will be interesting to open the engine up soon.... (a little apprehensive..)

One thing is that ever since new..... The car goes through a liter of engine oil per track day.

Just a quick update... We won our class and the Championship for the season at our enduro race. Forty cars entered at the begining of the series this year and only five of our class turned up at the final Enduro.... Its a 650km drive to the track and most were way out of the points position anyways (all the 500+ turbo cars did no enter the race for obvious reasons). We started the 3 hour race with 23 Porsche GT3 Cup cars, 5 of us, and a few slower cars from another class.... So we had loads of fun avoiding cars 5 to to 10 seconds slower then us and ..... some what more exciting.... Avoiding the GT3's that were 5 to 10 seconds faster then us. In our class three cars made it to the end. A 68 Mustang notch back with all the full cortex goodies and a Ford Performance 427 (in our PRO class), my Boss and a BMW Z4. My main rival in a older factory BMW M3 race car blew his transmission up trying to catch us.... Gears all over the place.... We ended up 10th overall out of 30 cars.... Boy those GT3 cup cars are fast!!

For Chile this is the biggest road racing event, with our Enduro and the Classic car enduro later in the day. We had 100 cars and 200+ drivers racing.... what a glorious noise as we have no sound restrictions at this track

Optimum time at this track for the Boss was 1:10 so we just kept the car at 1:13/14 for the three hours, My buddy did a great job driving my car and had the same times as I did and most importantly..... no crunching!! Found the car faster then his S550 but much more nervous.

One brand new set of "rim protector" Contis P2000, lasted the whole event, though the last 15min was on corded left front and rear tires.

Boy the L&M cam with the AED tune was great for passing, the car has a lot of grunt now and changing to the 3:31 rear made 2nd gear usefull again. Engine Temps were fine all during the race and only misshap has a header gasket in the final minutes of the race. Gear box got pretty near 300 degrees! Had a tranny cooler but the pump is only for one hour so we used it when ever it went to far over 250.

Have three hours of video to edit! .... and still feel tired three days later. Huge shout-out to TMO for all the tips in setting up the car (and driver)!!
