Proven effective in many cases.

Wouldn't bother for your first track day.
Should.

I'd say any 2 oil coolers with a radiator upgrade should be a 'full' solution.

I don't think so, at least not for your first day. Are you really going to be staring at your gauge going around the track? One that records peak temp might be helpful.

Wouldn't do it in advance of your first day.

True. But the whole point is to get the heat away from engine components anyway. Consider a larger pan and a 1 qt. overfill.

I disagree completely, but call Ford Performance.

I use 5W-50 in my '11 GT ~1 qt. overfilled. Use a breather, not PCV system catch cans or you'll ingest oil.

The overfill does two things. More volume to prevent heat soak/saturation and protection from starvation in long sweepers like T8 at WSIR. I've actually seen two 'Vettes pop engines there while in the Streets of Willow paddock.

Good luck, and good to see you around again lately.

Ive been super bsuy w stuff now back at it! Thanks Grant 302.

Makes sense, i had to switch to the 3.5 twin turbo pcv it was eating oil bad.. valves nasty etc.. now it does not eat oil as bad but still.

Will swap out the $100 worth of new 5w-20 mobil one gold oil after the initial fun. Battling a 2018 ss 1le and a tracked out miata. The miata was also over heating till new rad and air flow.

Will dig for pics of the cars in this thread.

Forgot to ask. Looking at the $400 upper cobra jet grill thats pricey. Also, from what i have read here the lower grill is also of major importance.

Has anyone taken a dremmel and cut out a bunch of the factory grill blocked holes? Can same be done w the lower? This will add drag and reduce downforce (can u say current gt500 development issues anyone?)

Also, wont the extended life mobil 1 5w 20 $$$ oil i got hold up better than normal syn blend 5w 20 for just the one noob track day in sept?

I remember reading that ford did not like the 10q-50 oil w 2011 or 2012 because of the jets.. and thats why they were able to run it w the boss and the 2013 sice the squirters were deleted. All just random nothing in stone.

Cobra jet grills are pricey. Try simply removing your grill if you get too hot. Then go from there.
Yes, several guys did cut up their stock grills to increase air flow. I believe they saw some improvement. Not as much as a CJ grill or no grill.

I think you'd be okay with one day on fresh 5W-20. That's the current recommendation for gen2 performance pack GTs.

Good points about the stock GT lower grille. I put in the GT/CS Boss lower for that plus brake duct and splitter. The center is relatively open with only two upright posts.

Let us know how the grille works. You'll need to contact Cooltech on the missing parts.

Oops. You mean the fittings in this picture next to the sandwich plate aren't there?

I'm sure cooltech will take care of you...

That grill should be open enough. Been in the pictured car for a few joyrides...

No those two black fittings w o rings are there. I use those to attach the 90 degree female ends to the heat exchanger.

I dont see anything to attach the straight female ends on the other end of the hoses to the sandwich plate? Is there a fitting built in to the setrab that i didnt notice?

You need two more for the cooler. The sandwich plate and the cooler both have M22 female ports.

Thanks Coz, im kinda bummed gotta pick the car up tomorrow.. new trans and shifter yea, but no cooler :(
I wonder why they dont ship them with the kit? They are not even mentioned in the instructions either.. and the pic on web shows only two.. says everything you need is in kit. Something has gotta be nit right. Maybe its screwed into something hiding!! Hehe. Ahhh well..

I just received the same kit last week but I'm not home right now. I'll have to double-check it tomorrow. I know the cooler and sandwich plate were drop shipped direct from Setrab and the lines came from Cool Tech.

Perhaps each company thought the other was providing one set of fittings.

Good point. Yes mine arrived the same way.. two seperate deliveries first from setrab second from cooltech.

I will buy from granger tomorrow if possible but thats a pretty unique fitting.

Now that i have time, is there a recommended temp gage and install kit that would be good to put in now? I need to also put it on the hot side not the cooler return side. Tbd on which line is the return.

Ps. This makes sunday interesting! Thanks for the help. Now, how to gut the lower grill and install watson plates. I do have the tube rad support so i think that will enable.

By the way, a question for those that have a sandwich plate.

The Setrab Hyperflow sandwich plate doesn't have any 1/8" NPT gauge ports. I know some people have substituted the Mishimoto plate instead but I prefer to use the Setrab because...well because its a Setrab. And I already paid for it...

Kendall at Cool Tech stated they have been successful in drilling & tapping the plate. As an alternate he suggested a male to female swivel 10AN adapter with a port such as this:

I'm a bit nervous about figuring out the right spot to drill & tap but will do so if its the best way. Any recommendations on the best way given any space constraints for either method (for the sensor or wiring). Will one way or another will affect temp readings significantly?

Thanks.

Got the high airflow upper grill installed from trufiber. Cooler going in as soon as the two missing fittings arrive from Cooltech.

This seems like an uglier alternative to the cobra jet grill for $75 less. Its about 5lbs less weight than ztock GT grill and lights.

PM me if u need i install notes. No need to pull the bumper. So much more cooling!

Very nice. Very pricey.

I may modify my stock GT upper grill by drilling out some of the blocked off hex areas along the upper & lower edge of the grill.

I did something similar on the left & right side of the lower grill when I installed the Vorshlag brake cooling inlet ducts.

I used a 7/8" hole saw and that got 90% of each hex opened up & finished opening the rest with a Dremel. Of course, 90% of the time was spent on that last 10%, lol
