I have the Dyad; it's really nice in traffic. Really good street clutch with tons of capacity. It will start to grab harder when it gets some heat in it but it's still smooth....

If you stay the MT82 route.... go for a tranny oil cooler as well.. Night and day difference in how the shifter feels on the track. No more stiff shifter as the temps used to get to high.

As far as clutchs go, I really like my Spec 2+, affordable and lasting well.

How is high rpm shifting with the Dyad?
Perfect! It fixed all of my high RPM issues. Another benefit of the DYAD design is that the engine revs quicker as well. The clutch moves weight closer to the center so you it acts like a lighter clutch with great street manners.

FWIW Spec stage 2+ is fine in traffic. Single disk. Pedal effort is more than stock (if I remember correctly) but not crazy. If need be, you can slip it enough to be happy in traffic, but it has enough spring for those high RPM shifts. BTW, from what I've read, being stuck in traffic is a great way to break your clutch in for the required 500 miles. It'll really seat nicely for the long road.

Like my SPEC 2+ clutch as it serves me well both on and off the track. If I had a dedicated track car I'd buy McLeod RXT twin or better and live with the noise.

I also have that clutch with the billet pressure plate option. Its super smooth and easy and grips. Per Ben Calimer stay away from rxt or other super high grip carbon based clutches w mt82.

I just got his stage 1 mt82 installed and picking up sunday w mgw race ahifter and a new slave cyl. Ams oil mtl 2qts and 3/4 qt amsoil 75w-90..

Ill let ya'll know how it works!

Now that ive got a few hours on the new mt82 transmission from Ben Calimer along w the MGW race shifter im addicted to it. Firm going into gear but positive and clean. Not random like before. Its very quiet like 90% and in neutral it does not sound like wooden bearings.

Mgw is way stiff and even the stock lever is short. Im hoping it all gets smoother over time. I have the laguna trans brace scoop but ben told me thats really to cool the clutch. Also no need for an active trans cooler w the mt82 and typical HP levels.. per Ben. Im sure the 2qts Amsoil MTF 5W-30 w 0.75 qt 75W-90 Gear oil are helping.

Can you elaborate on your trans cooler? Also, how it feels when she starts overheating the trans?

I noticed my MGW broke in quite well and isn't as firm/snappy as when I got it . Very smooth and direct.

Update: installed Barton Hybird 3 short throw shifter, carbon fiber one piece drive shaft 3.25”, Exedy grooved Mach 600 stage 4 w/ hydraulic throwout bearing, Exedy Lightweight Racing Flywheel. Remachined some gears / replaced syncros. Roughly 5,000 includes labor.

One word: Awsome! Break in period over. Feels like a totally different beast now.

Next up full Kooks exhaust with long tubes.

Thanks all for the reply’s and recommendations/insight.

I have had both.... and now seriously looking at a Stage 3 Geforce setup from Ben. If you are going to track the car often,,, think of a stock MT82 as a consumable.....:(

But the Ben Calimer kit should be a better bet.... The AMP setup is almost stock and if you have to change some other gears, it will cost more then Bens Stage 1.

I guess the temptation of getting a 1000hp capable gear box is starting to get really appealing...... Tired of getting bleed to death by too many dead MT82's (lost count at 5).... The Geforce stage three is cheaper then a Tremec XL as I already have a alloy drive shaft and mgw race shifter....not too mention clutch etc.

Hmmm...... maybe now I could get a super charger?? :)

I have no desire to get a supercharger. A bullet proof trans, oh yea.
To be honest, since I installed the MGW, gen 1 and the RST clutch. I have had zero issues.
13k on the odo, many on track. I may be on borrowed time.
With the trans will be an oil cooler and pump system. I believe I should be able to shoehorn a pump in the area of the battery IF I can swap the stock battery for a Braille or similar battery.
This will bring it closer to $4k.
I liked the set up Steve has on his boss. Only thing I would change would be to use a banjo fitting on the bottom drain for better clearance.
