Hello everyone! Been lurking for a while and decided to join up finally. I'm looking to possibly get into a new Mustang in the next few months and wanted to get your opinions on which route would be a good way to go for both enjoyment and my wallet.

I've currently got a '14 GT with 33,400 miles. It's got the Boss IM, JLT intake, Bama '93 Tune (going to have it dyno tuned if I keep it), Borla ATAK cat-back exhaust, FRPP K-Springs, FRPP front and rear sway bars, and BMR LCAs.

Intended use is daily driver, 1 to 3 track events per year and 1 to 2 autocross events per month.

What I'm debating is getting in to a GT350, or a PP2 GT. My budget is around 50-55k. I could go with a new PP2 or a used GT350.

What I'd like your opinions on is what car do you think would best suit my intended use? I will not be turning any of them into dedicated track cars anytime soon. I really like the look and allure of the GT350, but I would have to buy used and I know that some of these have been beat on very hard. I also like the fact that I could order a new PP2 in the color I want and with the options I want and get those sweet 305s.

So what do you all think - stay the course with the '14, go for a used GT350, or order a new PP2?

can't go wrong either way , though PP2s are almost in as short supply wise as GT 350s ---and many are loaded over 50K.

Also, you have a PM.

I don’t own either, just a lowly Track Pack 14 but I have an opinion.
The MT82 is the only possible ding on a PP2.
If the Shelby ownership experience isn’t something you need it’s tough to knock the PP2’s list of options and price point that fits your requirements.

I went from a 13 Boss Laguna Seca to a 12 Porsche Spyder to a 15 Chevy Z28. I really enjoy all cars :).

But for the value you can pick up a low to mid 40's Z28 that's a good track car too.

But if you get the Camaro you are required to put a little dog whose head rocks back and forth in the back window, ha!

PS - the MT82 is definitely not the stellar gearbox that is in the GT 350, but the improvements are definitely very noticeable over the early year systems.

Yeah, I just about pulled the trigger on the MGW shifter to try and clean up the sloppy shifts on my current MT-82. I do hear great things about that Tremec in the Shelbys.

Thanks for the info, Bill. And good luck at Nationals! I hope to make it there next year. Been Auto-x'ing with SCCA for about a year and half now. It's my crack!

Been friends with George at MGW for 20 years plus --there is no better short throw shifter!!! Plus he has owned tons of Mustangs to personally use to perfect the units over, and over and over. ( he has owned GTs, Boss 302s, a Boss 302S, GT 350s, etc . )
