That article has caused all sorts of controversy on the FoRS forum. Although he has some of his facts incorrect (it was actually every single 2016 and and most 2017s that got recalled for the headgasket), his overall impressions of the car and various modifications were right on point. My car has very similar modifications (KWs, e-tune, intercooler, etc) and he is correct about how the KWs absolutely transform the car. I, too, HATED the way mine rode and was contemplating unloading it but then I found some NIB KW DDCs on ebay for a significant discount. Thank goodness I did because the car is so much better to drive now, both around town and during "brain-out" activities. And his issue with the seat is very size-specific. I am 6'2" 180lbs and they fit me perfectly, even on 3+ hour trips. A friend of mine who is shorter and stockier finds them uncomfortable when he has driven it.

As for the wheels, yeah no thank you! Plus, they are heavy, too. I have CF5s on mine.

My daily is a Focus RS. I will mirror everything he says and more. I’ve never been so let down by a new car purchase, and I was so excited when I finally found one at sticker.

On the first day I almost put it in a ditch. I’ve never owned a FWD car before, and with how this car had been sold/written about, I expected dynamics like our old STi. Instead in a curve I hit the throttle, started correcting for the unexpected FWD torquesteer late and caught a nasty road groove at the same time.

I really hate the seats, driving position and clunky rails. I am 6’ 165lbs and cycle 4-6hrs a week on a 153mm wide piece of carbon with a few mm of padding, so it’s not soft/fat old guy disease.

I got the car in part because of all the Ford promo materials in snow and factory snow wheels/tires kit. I only drove the car on public roads and snow ripped off the lower air dam and messed up the felt engine wrap “thing”. Ford said it was my fault. It’s now got a door weatherstrip falling off and the head recall still needs done. The f’ing sunroof rattles.

In the right situations, the torque vectoring really does shine, but you have to drive it pretty hard to get there. In third gear, when the nannies seem to finally let it eat, it does go pretty good. :) He mentions the M2, but I wanted a hot hatch for toting kids in car seats, backpacks, sports gear etc. If only Subie would re-release their hatch STI...

I bounce between wanting to sell it, mod it and have have ended up just driving as is because I might sell it.

Subaru needs something besides their archaic 2.5l. Ive had 2 STI's and experienced the 2.5l in the two STI's and in an 18g 2.5l LGT. Ring land short block replacement required in the LGT.
