Had a great weekend at VIR with a solid gathering of TMO veterans. Many thanks to both Steve's, Nick, Ernie and Tom for their hospitality.

Ran my best time of 2:07.50 but run sessions were cut short on day 2 from excess oil blow by accumulating in my breather. Filled the Peterson breather (~12oz of oil) on every run session of day 2 - spewed oil everywhere in the engine bay.

2015 GTPP/305/35/18 NT01/Brakes: DS1.11 front, GLOC R12 rear/Ridetech coilovers/GT350 IM-TB

Looking into this issue further and bringing to JPC Racing to perform an initial leak down test but there are signs of potential ring failure :( More to come...

Hope I didn't slow down @treynor too much lol.
S007As are definitely not time attack tires but they held up throughout each full session without getting greasy or needing a cooldown lap which was my goal with the tires, allowing me to learn the track and improve as much as possible.
I was also forced to run stock pads due to a stuck caliper bolt so those were not confidence inspiring but worked ok until I glazed them on the last lap of the last session, thank goodness for cooling ducts or that would have happened much sooner.

That was a nice day with the gang! And Bens car is just nuts if you haven`t noticed yet.

The front to rear width and diameter difference in tires was, lets say, sub optimal. 25.5" front height and 27.9" in the rear. Lots of rake, no great torque and lots of push. The front was corded thoroughly by the end of the day.
Definitely one of my more unrefined PB laps. I pretty much missed every other apex. I don´t think I ever drove a car with that much understeer. That said, it drove pretty fine and controllable and I definitely had a blast shaking it down.

Nice driving. Those Camaro's have a habit of getting squirrelly or spinning out in front of Mustangs. LOL

I'm still learning the track -- this was my second full session driving there, ever, in any car. Please be gentle!

Ben, very nicely done for your first time out! My only suggestions for you the next time out is don't be afraid to get up on the curbing and stay flat out through the esses! you lifted right before the last one to the left and if you hadn't you'd easily be at a 1:49 or better!

Again though fantastic job and thanks for making the trek all the way down to our event, it was a pleasure having you there!

Thanks - I watched my video Sunday and was wincing at about half the corners. As you say, getting onto the curbing, fixing the line through Cotton, bringing (a lot) more speed into Riverside, but also Sunset and Sunrise and staying almost flat through the end of the esses... it wasn't bad for my second full session on the track, but I'm looking forward to getting back!!

And, great event. Y'all in SoCal - you should give the American Muscle Cup a try. Good bunch!

I definitely would not try that first. coming out of Esses is where 80% of bad crashes occurs at BRP (coming out of Sunset also, but they are all relative minor fender bender due to lower speed). Over the years, I've seen over 10 cars totalled there. I've seen 1 fatality there 3 years ago.

I would try to be flat every other place first before pushing the last 2/10th coming out of Esses.

Understood, and I appreciate the advice.

I suspect the left exiting the esses will require a breathe off the throttle at entry to get the car to point, but it may depend on tires and track conditions. It's a 110 MPH entry in the GT4, so it's not one I'm going to charge into and hope for the best!

I can take the exit of the esses flat at 110, but I worked my self up to it and rarely do it. This is not a corner I take lightly for the mentioned reasons.
What you can do though is to brake later, more diagonally and deeper into Sweeper. Then you stay on the outside, take a late apex and get on the gas before the Apex. This will maximize the time you can stay WOT and you will exit the esses even faster. But barely easing the throttle and being mindful about the exit should get you through there just fine.

Nice work, that is the top time there so far!

And treynor posting a new top time for Buttonwillow CW13 as well...the GT4 does not disappoint!

All times updated to this point.
