15" S550 6 Piston Brembo Upgrade Parts List

All,

Building off of @steveespo pioneering on the subject, I upgraded my front brakes with S550 6 piston Brembo calipers and 2013 GT500 15" rotors. I wanted to give back to the TMO community and compile a complete parts list to make it easy for those seeking to do the same. Below is the link to Steve's original post:

https://trackmustangsonline.com/threads/huge-brake-upgrade-for-s197-chassis.11867/

The brakes feel great on the street so far (very powerful). I will report soon on track day results. Unfortunately they only clear a handfull of 18" wheels. So Far I have fitted Team Dynamics 18x10s, Forgestar CF5 18x11, and Apex EC7 18x11.

Thanks smallblock, I also want to mention @OPMustang Tim who runs Optimum Performance Mustang who worked along with me on the idea and has put together these parts in a kit. Tim is another great TMO resource for parts and advice.

If you found cheaper rotors/pads/no powder coating/titanium shims(?), this could be done for less than a grand. That is a heck of a deal really.

Would this model 127.61106CR rotor from Stoptech work with this kit as well? Measurements all seem the same only difference is this one is cross drilled and slotted thanks.

A fixed caliper isn’t recommended for S197’s rear axles. The excessive rotor movement causes piston knock back. That is why Brembo/Ford did not develop a fixed caliper for 13-14 GT500s.

Also, this is why professional race teams stick with the stock sliding calipers unless the rear axle is upgraded to a full floating axle such as that offered by Cortex. The stock axle end-play and flex exceeds the neccessary tolerances for a fixed mount caliper.

I wonder if the red calipers from the 2019 Bullitt are available?

Seems Bullit service parts are indefinite hold for outside of Ford dealer network sales. I have a lower grille on “backorder” with no ETA. Ford Performance is probably planning a big catalog update next Spring after the cars are past the initial sales hype.

Apologizes for bringing up a older thread. I used the search, but came up with nothing. I have 19x9.5 SVE Drift Wheels all around, and I saw in another thread that these brakes won't clear that wheel. Is this correct? Because then I found some pics of 2015+ cars with that wheel, and the PP brakes? Do the disks offset make the difference?

I seem to remember that someone here confirmed that the Drifts dont fit, in either 18 or 19 size... its one of the reasons i switched up to Apex wheels.... ( and running big fat tires)

That is one beautiful 5.0 in black. I should buy one like that and give it to my daughter in two-to-three years. 18 Apex would be spot on.
