Perf Pack 2 or not?

So, as I will probably be in the market for a new Mustang, I’m spending time deciding which options and figure there might be a few opinions to be had, here. For my needs, maybe five track days a year, I thought a GT with a PP2 would suit my needs.

Is that car a unicorn? Can’t seem to find one.

Second thought is to get a GT without either PP’s. And do it Up aftermarket. It will be an often driven car, but comfort not a major concern.

Weigh in.

Personally, I think a base 300A with PP1/Recaros is a bargain basement track rat car just the way it comes from Ford. Brakes are great, torsen diff, suspension just works really well, probably the lightest GT you can buy, what's not to like? And if you add Ford's FR3 track suspension and some meatier wheels/tires later on you'll have a very streetable and very quick track car. PP2 still has no trans/diff coolers and for me that makes the whole package uninteresting, especially given the added cost. Just depends what you're looking for, I don't find the luxo bits appealing at all in a performance car.

At a minimum get a PP1 or Bullitt not a base GT. One word: brakes.

Is it done?

Is it done? Well, We’re getting closer. Ford moves as fast as the Polar Vortex will allow at this point. But not that far off in the grand scheme of things.

I like the idea of PP1 and what @JDee said. Bullitt . . . . Just can’t seem to get excited about that car at that price, considering I’d spen $$ on wheels and tires. It has a lot that is nice, but stuff that I really don’t want, and an emptier wallet means less to spend on upgrades.

Oh yeah, brakes are a must.

I just got a 2019 PP2 and it's such a great car. I was seriously looking at new and used GT350s, but I truly ended up saving 20k plus over a new GT350 (thats a lot of performance parts and track days) and 6 to 10k over a used two to three year old GT350.

PP2s are out there but they are rare. It's way easier to find a new 350. Try to find one that has been ordered but the deal fell through. That's how I got mine as it was from a dealer that doesn't get a lot of performance buyers and the only PP2 car they have ever had.

foxcoupefan is correct, as we are sold out and they only did about 1500 in. 2018. You should just consider ordering a 2019, and get what you want? with new GT350s around 65K, the above money savings is not far off.

Meant to bring this up , but a PP1 is not an option for 2019. Essentially if you want a track GT your choice is the PP2. Not much is needed , imho, after that option, except the Recaro Seats and the Perf. Exhaust upgrade. You can option out a GT with some of the options, but it seems like a lost cause since so many other items would have to be purchased separately and it would approach the PP2 pricing.

All three of our stores want to order some PP2s, and I would love to hear what you guys think I should order - colors, Recaros or not, dual mode exhaust, etc. ? Heh, I can tell them I got all these good ideas from a bunch of Trackoholics from the TMO Forum?

Chill Bobby, just asking for opinions, I have mine that I impress upon the Managers, but would be nice to use this source as a recommendation. Hard to get them to understand most folks want fairly stripped models , not loaded with unneccessary options and this is a solid reference to prove my point.

I have no problem with that, I know everyone on this site will attest to a very honest price with us, we don't operate any other way. One doesn't become the " Largest Ford Truck Store ," based in a small town in Nebraska unless you operate based on solid values , respect and courtesy. Unfortunately we don't sell anywhere as many cars and I often reference reliable sources ( like this Forum ) to illustrate what car and performance buyers are looking for?
