Price action from Thursday through yesterday (Monday) was pretty clear support. Calling the bounce on Friday certainly doesn't hurt. Still looking for that test of the 26k level. Looking to roll remaining hedges through the end of the week assuming uptrend continues.

I'm betting there will be a compromise with Beijing. No-one on the planet can win this war. The saber rattling was begun with the intention to negotiate. Our President's Modus Operandi. Aim high, settle for what you can get.

I sell a million dollars of fasteners and electronic components to a medical device manufacturer and a new young global procurement manager fresh out of the India school of negotiation skills come on and tells you they want a 40% reduction in cost while quite aware of an 11% increase in cost of your material. There was never a hope of reaching 40% but even if you give them a 3% reduction in cost, they win.

The market will jump accordingly.

I'm in the semiconductor equipment business and we call that "beating up the supplier" to achieve cost targets. We probably have in the neighborhood of 4000 people in Supply Chain Management.

Now, I could really use a near term setback in LRCX Lam Research stock! Going to jump ship back to them and getting a nice chunk of RSU's (Restricted Stock Units). I'm taking a siesta from manufacturing engineering and going to try my hand at being a Sr Staff Program Manager.

Treating suppliers and subcontractors like that doesn't always get you very far if you bid competitive work. JMO. I usually spent a lot of effort making sure the crap didn't always roll downhill in that way.

----

Dip came a little early today and the bounce right now has some strength to it. But good chance for it to evaporate through the day if it doesn't breach about 25.5 or so.

I hear ya Grant. The company has been around for over 50 years so the suppliers know the game. They start with their bids high to cover the headache that we provide.

And it's that game of padding and 'fake' negotiations that isn't really good for anybody. Treat them as business partners and let them compete to earn your trust. It's a better model when you have enough suppliers to compete at their level. Never fun when you have to deal with 'the one guy' or sole source suppliers.
