It's true what they say, our 18" EC-7s do clear the S550 calipers quite nicely :) Along with many other brake kits out there. Even our 19" lineup slides over the GT350 calipers with roughly double to clearance of the factory wheels:

I hate to be the one that brings this thread back yet again, but I have a few questions, and do not want to start another thread for them. I am looking at these calipers on Rock Auto, and they show "reman". Did you guys that ordered from Rock Auto get remans?

Question 2, I assume the blowfish racing brake duct kit will work for these brakes since it uses/replaces the backing plate correct?

Those are the correct caliper part numbers. It wasn't listed as a re-manufactured caliper when I bought mine and the price has dropped slightly. If I had to guess, the calipers were too new when I bought mine to have reman stock but have since changed status. That being said, I think you can completely trust a Ford reman personally.

The Blowfish cooling ducts will fit but they won't seal against the larger 15" rotor. They are designed to tuck inside the 14" rotors so there will be a 1/2" gap with the 15"s. I am using Vorshlag's gen 1 design that is essentially a modified OEM backing plate that covers the majority of the 15" rotor friction surface fairly tightly. I would recommend the new gen 2 design:

I would call them to confirm fitment before ordering though

I hate being new and bringing up an old thread, but can anyone help me with the difference between:

and

MOTORCRAFT BRCF431
MOTORCRAFT BRCF430

From everything that I can see, they are the same except for powder coating. They call for the same brake pads as well.

First post and already a PITA.

Thanks in advance.

I can give a partial answer... Obviously 2 p/n's for Right and Left sides.

The original grey service p/n's are BRCF-308/309, these were made in Italy. They were replaced by BRCF-430/431, which are the same part made in Mexico.

The BRCF-312/313 are black calipers, I forget the special model usage (Bullit?), but starting with "3", I assume they are also made in Italy. There are also a set of p/n's for Red version, again forget the special model usage (Mach 1?).

Perfect. Thank you very much.
Welcome to TMO! Don't forget to do a vehicle profile. It will auto generate a build thread.

FYI -- both Rock Auto calipers are the same just different paint. Both are remans. One set is shiny with black paint ( 100 bucks more per side ) and the other mat black with red paint. The cheaper are BRCF431and 430. If you are doing the build don't forget to ad titanium shims from @OPMustang Tim - he is a sponsor here and also has the Gloc pads. The shims help decrease heat transfer to the calipers and help keep fluid temps lower - for me it was worth the extra 100 bucks. I have Gloc 12s up front and 10 in the rear. @EBC Brakes also has pads. I have a set of RP-1 for the front and Blues for the back that I will be trying out eventually. Both vendors will gladly answer any questions.

Also OEM rotors ($90) are cheaper than the centrics. Same rotors both sides.

Thank you Mark.
If all goes well, I expect to pick up a track prepared dual purpose 2005 GT on Saturday. All it needs (famous last words) is the brakes upgraded (rear with larger rotors). I will do the intro and car profile this weekend. Thanks for the head's up on the TI Shims and rotors.

Here's a sneak peak. Hope I haven't jinxed my self.

That's what I thought at first. They are 15". I checked with a vendor on eBay selling the same Motorcraft rotors with the same numbers and he measured for me.
Make sure they are 15" to fit the 2013-2014 Shelby GT500. If they are 15" to fit the S550 they will not fit an S197. The offset isn't the same.

The above referenced rotors went for 12 days/4 sessions per day and had some left. I replaced them in advance of my upcoming 3 day event at VIR because I did not want to run the risk of having to do it at the track. The rears were Raybestos 680990 AT units from Amazon and were done based on wear. No heat checking at all.

As an aside, I am running a DT70/DT60 setup and still on the first set of fronts with almost 1/2 of the pad left. Rears got replaced because of a sticking piston on one side which took out the outer pad. The other three were over half thick and kept as spares.

I also went the same length of time on the RT700 brake fluid.

I am pretty sure that the Titanium shims from OP and the brake duct kit from Vorshlag helped tremendously with the wear rate.
