Man what a hassle!!! Sorry to hear about this issue but good luck with the RST! I love mine - 7900rpm shifts all day long! I really love it especially since I had the Maximum Motorsports clutch pedal travel limiter installed recently. Makes the clutch so much friendlier around town.

Thanks I'll look that up. What does it do, make the pedal feel lighter?

The RST is notorious for engaging only at the very top of the pedal travel so you end up with all of this free play below that down to the floor. And because it's a twin disc, it's a little more on/off feeling than a single disc so combined with the free play, the car could be a little tricky and herky jerky leaving stops, especially on hills. The MM pedal stop is awesome because it obviously eliminates that free play and it really makes the car so much nicer to drive. The Mustang specialty shop that I had install it was skeptical but now they are believers, too.

I measured a stock ‘13 Boss flywheel with similar cheapy digital calipers and I can’t get a larger reading than 1.745” on the bore. Your posted picture looks like they’re measuring outside the bore or on the shoulder of the stock flywheel. Maybe have a machine shop do the measuring?

The box from my friend’s Exedy flywheel says:

Which exedy clutch? As I've found out different clutches get different flywheels and they can not be mixed and matched.

Also my shop owner worked for steeda for many years and and used to design parts for them. The exedy rep actually knows him and found this to be the rare casr. But does happen

Yes and my crank is 7.5 on the nose. That flywheel wouldn't fit either. Exedy offered me half price if my shop could bore it out. It they would do it if I shipped it back to them. They should have offered me half price either way. This has been a huge PITA. and I'm sure the shop is going to charge me extra labor for all this.

From beefcake racing: they spoke to their exedy rep that spoke to Ford and my crank is on the high side of the allowed tolerance. And exedy will be making a change going forward on their flywheels.

Ok. My oem is also manufactured differently. On one side it's 1.82. Where the exedy flywheel is a bored hole, the oem is chamfered. I don't remember the measurement of the other side, but the the chamfer let it marry up to the crank.

Even the exedy rep said this is a rare case, they asked the shop multiple times if my motor was stock.

This picture looks like they're measuring at the chamfered 'shoulder' area:

Looks like the Exedy unit is chamfered on the side visible in the pic.

Just trying to help since I happened to have this stuff in my garage. Pretty sure I understand why the OEM Boss clutches fail to disengage...

That's correct that's the larger side of the oem.

I appreciate any and all help!!

This forum has been a wealth of knowledge and help since day 1 of my Boss ownership!

The exedy one, at least mine, doesn't really have a chamfer but more of a bored hole with a slightly beveled edge

FWIW if you're doing mostly track days I'd stick with the Exedy. If using the McLeod for mostly track work use the RXT. Use the RST if you're only doing a couple of track days a year. The RST is much better for driving on the street.

Thanks Rick.

That's the plan. Maybe 1 or 2 events a year in the stang and the rest with the S2000.
