During this week Austin Dillon will be shaking down the supposed new gen 7 chassis with NASCAR engineers and was originally intended to be a very private/ no media test day. Leave it to Austin to let us get a good first look at the car! he posted a brief walk around video and a still shot of the rear and it is easy to spot some immediate differences. In the front there appears to be a chin spoiler-ish design on top of the splitter and more prominent definitions in the front bumper cover. For this car the are using hood vents that I would assume are venting from the radiator and are also using a c7r style upper intake rather than the traditional cowl induction. Along the side of the car features a set of 18x(most likely 10.5") BBS wheels with 5 lug nuts, A different side skirt which flows from the back side of the tire, single exit side exhaust which most likely indicates a symmetrical design of exhaust and a steeper windshield angle. On the back of the car the decklid has been all but removed, a similar sized spoiler is in place and most importantly there is now a diffuser under the rear valence! I am dying to know more about this and there is a lot of speculation about this new car right now. Thought?

Wonder if they will be similar to the Continentals , though, where most of the tires are used on Ovals , hence have a stiffer sidewall and are not as good as the Pirellis and Michelins?

Best thing about wandering to other tracks ( Autobahn ) was seeing the guys with fast Stangs and Corvettes running on Michelin scrubs. They seem to be even quicker than the Pirellis , so we have another tire choice if you trailer your car and use either IMSA or World Challenge take offs?

My hunch is that the goodyears that nascar will use while usable won't be nearly as fast as a Michelin scrub, the tires they use now I would compare to the softness of a hoosier A7 give or take and have a very short lifespan at-least on the ovals.

Nascar also uses different compounds for left and right sides and they also use dual compound tires. The inside tread of the tire is a different compound from the outside.

I’m all in on the next gen cars. But they’re moving to four road races? If so that’s good news. Less chance of me getting dizzy.

across all 3 series they go to watkins glen, sonoma, ctmp, road america, charlotte roval and mid ohio. if they use the 18 inch wheels in all 3 series then it would seem more realistic to get a set of scrubs.
