Norm, I remember your inputs from a certain other Mustang forum and always found them to be valuable. Glad you found your way here and look forward to following along in your adventures.

Once you feel there's enough in it to be worth linking to up front, I'm trying to put something together here.

Per PO, 18x11 +52 offset. I have 25mm spacers up front but it seems to be a bit too much. I'd be happier with 8mm spacers but it's what I have at the moment.

That’s correct.

CF5, 18x11 +52 square.

It is possible to run less spacer in front on a factory style strut and with Cortex offset struts you could run no spacer, but I ran a 5mm to increase turning radius because I have 4” brake cooling ducts and wanted a little more space.

On a factory strut you could probably run 8mm to 15mm and be fine.

Extended length wheel studs recommended / required.

Tires?

If my setup is any indication, 8mm wouldn't be enough even for 285/35 tires that sit basically flush with the wheel flanges. Even 15 might be tighter than most people would be comfortable with. Koni yellows, FWIW.

Another 3V just joined....I posted this video in the road race forum, but thought it would also fit well in here. The car is a 2010 Mustang GT modified to full Spec Iron criteria. Basically a stock 4.6 (tune only), MCS coilovers, camber plates, 275/18 Toyos all around, and GT500 calipers/rotors up front as the major modifications. Major downside modification, we have to run 3:31 rear ends....good for higher speed tracks, but doesn't help so much on the shorter tracks in the midwest(exception being Road America!) Looking forward to hearing more on the 3Vs! BTW any tips tricks on the stock rear brakes would help! Thanks!

Hi Apex3V,

The Spec Iron class is great....the SE is booming....the guys down there came up to run nationals with us Great Lakes boys at MidOhio and we had a blast. The cars are rather equal....look at our qualifying and race times for the championship race. Once you get your car dialed in...the racing is really pretty driver dependent. I just started running in SI two years ago after ten years in Spec Miata. It takes as much or more money and time to build, maintain, and run a front running Spec Miata as it does a Spec Iron car, and the SI cars are WAY more fun to drive :) I am looking forward to growing the class in the Great Lakes Region. Climb the ladder and come on racing, the SE guys will treat you right!
