I know everyone in this thread so far owns a SUV or big ass truck.

Or both.

Has anyone seen any information on hybrid or straight E car for this SUV??

And yes, we would all like to see a 3500 lbs gas electric hybrid mustang. That may take a few years.

Anytime the demand is there, Ford will be ready to step in...

Well, certainly not in the electric car space. Tesla has sold almost three quarters of a million electric cars vs a handful for Ford.

I'm sooo ready to trade in my S***box Focus Electric for just about anything else that is Ford and electric.

It's my belief that is on purpose on Ford's part. The fact that Tesla hasn't hit a million yet is more of an indicator of a problem with demand. The temporary backlog for Tesla is just that...temporary. I don't know of a single person who wants to be in an electric car that isn't. What, precisely, is the reason Ford couldn't pump out over a million electric cars per year if they wanted to? I think they could in as little as 12-18 months.

I only know of one other owner, and he seems pretty happy with it. What's the problem with yours? I'm thinking the next Ford family car will at least be a hybrid SUV but might be electric if Fords are available in say 3 years.

Ford could pump out a million cars. But it's probably been decades since they sold a million of any given car (not truck) in one year. They don't have a design that is appealing, I guess.

My beef with the Focus is mostly around size, I'm five foot fourteen and it's kinda cramped. The four doors makes the B pillar be right in the way when I look left before pulling out into traffic- and the arm rest is waaay too far forward with the seat back where I need it. Plus, it's the cheapest car Ford makes, so the interior leaves a little to be desired. I'd LOVE an electric F150, but would settle for an Exploder.

From a performance standpoint, I can live with the 115 mile range that drops to 100 when I go 86 MPH, which coincidentally is top speed. I'd like a better top speed for passing for sure. Also, being a FWD car it fails to grab traction in wet conditions or gravely roads. It handles great, better than my Shelby for sure on the back roads that are bumpy.

My Focus, after taxes, but with incentives was right above $17k. That's pretty cheap for what I get- which is access to the HOV lane and 30 minute drives to work early in the morning covering 31.5 miles, of which 5 are country road.

Oh, and I wish mice couldn't get in and die in it. That would be nice.

My cost to drive the 63 miles round trip is less than $3/day.

Demand for cars overall is just down. Everybody wants SUVs and Trucks now. 20 years ago, I thought I'd never own an SUV...caved 10 years ago. Probably not going back to a sedan ever...or not until the kids are out of the house.

Demand for electric cars is still pretty low. Aside from the HOV benefit, the demand around here isn't that high.

And even with the CA gas taxes as insane as they are...I don't see the demand moving up all that fast going forward.

Chop the top! ;) Done. :D

Now we're talking Mustang-like. I saw this picture on a CNBC article too and showed it to my wife. She likes it. I like it if the styling stays close to this. I understand it's meant to mostly compete with Tesla's S model and will be more high end. A cheaper version is in the cards for next year.

The lines look like the cap extended back sort of like the Eckler Vette kits in the 70's. The lines are the same until you get behind the door. Then a gentle decrease in height to the rear ending at the tailgate.

Lets hope it does not look like a mustang body placed on a bronco chassis. I live through that era, not interested in reliving the same. LOL. I can put up with the vehicles.....the mullet....not so much:D
