Tracy the sprocket in the timing kit is OEM powdered metal. Now it’s a good piece right, because it hasn’t failed on you right? But if you are going in there wouldn’t the extra $125-150 be worth the piece of mind? I’m lucky, the Gen 3 OEM sprocket is already steel.

In the process of rebuilding my short block after a ring land failure and decided to pull the trigger on the GT500 oil pan assy since the motors out anyway. I was told that for proper oil level measurement you had to replace the stock tube and stick on a coyote with the 2020 GT500 ones. Anyone know if this is true? I ordered them anyway along with the GT500 pan assy and will be installing next weekend on the Q750. TIA

It's possible due to the location of the wings on the GT500 pan that you could be down a qt. before it would show a full qt down on the Coyote stick.

Update on install.
I got the motor in and running last weekend. Here are the facts about installing this oil pan on a coyote.
#1- Simple install but oil level indicator on opposite side. Rerouted and extended wires.
#2- Stock coyote dipstick measures at the top of the level indicator with 11.5 quarts in her so no need for another dipstick. I was told I needed to purchase the GT500 dipstick and tube. Fake news.
#3- I had to switch from the Steeda 4 point G trac brace to the 2 point one due to clearance issues with the new pan.
#4- My oil pressure stays pegged on the gauge between 80-100 psi now any time i'm over idle and is around 40 psi at idle. I say this because I know there were some questions about what OPG's ford put in the GT500. My oil pressure was NEVER this high with the stock OPG's. So this appears to be a great upgrade on oil pump performance as well.
Hope this helps and if you have any questions on fitment, quality, or performance, please contact me. I'd be glad to answer any and all that I can.

the pan itself may be compatible with the older pumps. The new pump gear is slightly taller than the older ones, thus there's a new housing. It uses the older style pickup tube attachment (a move away from the grommet used ), but I've not measured one to see; what I've heard from aftermarket pump manufacturers is that this is the pump to run for road racers. The bypass isn't a known value (but someone could measure what cold idle/light rev is to see), but the base pressure at idle seems to be a tick higher. I'd have happily used this setup over what I did with the FP350S pan were it available.

I'm somewhat surprised about the dipstick. I have the parts for the 500 dipstick, gen2 coyote dipstick, and gen1: the 500 dipstick is about 5/8" shorter than the others. I would think with 11.5 in you're more than ok, but i'd keep that in mind.

Thanks.

what I've heard from aftermarket pump manufacturers is that this is the pump to run for road racers.

My main concern is that it doesn't come with billet OPGs. Perhaps the aftermarket will make these. I have the CJ pump on mine and it seems it would be a step backwards to go non-billet.

In any case, is such an oil pan even worthwhile for HPDE using no more than 200TW tires? Possibly even just R-S4 295s? Or will the g-forces never rise to the level that oil starvation can occur?

Boundary offers black series gears for the GT500 pump. That would be the ideal setup.

Yes on 200 TW tires. I've been pouring through hours of recorded data from nearly every pump and pan combo I've run and can say with absolute certainty* the FP350S style pans work better than anything I've seen before that's wet sump.

Nice. But is the GT500 pan only compatible with the GT500 oil pump and/or pick-up tube?

Or can it be installed on a Gen1 or Gen2 as is?
I cannot answer your question with 100% accuracy. The kit comes with the pan, pickup tube, and oil pump assy. I installed the entire kit on my gen 2.

Thanks. But just to clarify, is that:

Yes the g-forces would never get that high using 200TW tires

Or,

Yes, an oil pan upgrade is still worthwhile when using 200TW tires.

Yes its worthwhile on 200TW tires. Dips in oil pressure are something critical to avoid on track. Best case? Timing falls off targets for VCT, Worst case? Things start breaking or wearing excessively.

slippery slope, lol.

That said, I'm not 100% sold on their k member (outside the nifty motor mounts - I love the idea of being able to do maintenance). Its basically outlawed for me due to rules packages, but before then I was iffy. I have used the MM support though, it works well (and admittedly, so does the boss 302 strut tower brace with a wrapped strap)
