The Mavisky " LoudCar," sounds like it acquired the name from a son or daughter, as I know I received a very similar name for my Boss S from my Grandson. Of course, now he tells me he really loves " Loudcars!" Welcome to TMO from Hotlanta and are you actually from the big city or a suburb like Roswell, Alpharetta, Peachtree City, etc. ?

You hit the nail on the head. My 6 year old daughter gave the car its nickname. I'm not down in the big city proper, but rather well north in Cumming. On national forums though that doesn't mean anything to anyone so I just use Atlanta to describe the general area.

I know where it is, and I am in a similar situation living in a small town 20 miles north of Omaha. I tell everyone where it is , but my wife just goes with Omaha. I have headers going into a Flowmaster dumping right behind my seat so your daughter would probably call it " LouderCar," ha! You are just a short drive over to my favorite track in the US -- Road Atlanta. Have heard some great things about the newer Atlanta Motorsports Park just to the North of you. Hope to get there some day, as can stay with my best friend from High School over in Ball Ground.

AMP is only 11 miles from my house while Road Atlanta is about a 45 minute scenic drive. Both great tracks and eventually hoping to get my car on both of them.

Well, I guess I could just stay with you instead of my good friend from High School since you are only 11 miles from AMP,ha ! From now on forget about telling folks you are from Atlanta, just tell them you are in a small Georgia town about 11 miles from Atlanta Motorsports Park ---- way more impressive to the kind of folks you will find here!!!

Very true. I actually hit up their go kart track a month ago and had an absolute blast.

I didn't realize that posting some pics in the garage would start a build thread but here are some larger pics of the car.

I'm sure the running lights in green aren't for everyone but they're adjustable and i'm sure everyone will dig the custom glass etching.

I should mention that Kyle and I go way back to the Mitsubishi days. He used to autocross and track a heavily modified Eagle Talon (same thing as a Mitsu Eclipse).

It's no surprise to see him in a GT350 with his love for going fast around turns. And this car certainly is "loud" in more ways than one. We'll need to put some pressure on him to get some track days scheduled so he can post some write-ups like he used to do with the Talon. The difference is he'll likely be buying up some track day insurance for this car :)

Very true on many counts there Chris. I've also been holding off as I know just how addictive track days will be once I get set in. I was building the old Talon to start going that route before a couple of engine failures steered me in a different direction. Being located between Atlanta Motorsports Park and Road Atlanta and not getting this car on track seems like a failure. I'm sure I'll cave eventually.

Well finally got the car out to it's first real event since purchasing it.

Joined up with the SCCA and the Atlanta region for their CAMC class after reading a great writeup from @Bill Pemberton .

Unfortunately my brain fog in the morning and trying to wrap my head around the decade + hiatus I took from competition meant I made a massive mistake early on. Instead of running the tires in the high 30's for tire pressure when hot, I instead spent the first 4 of my 6 runs dropping pressure to what they should be when cold. This lead to 4 of my 6 runs at 28psi hot. Took me a while to figure out why the car was suddenly so "soft". Once I was able to up the pressures to about 34 rear and 36 front (all I had time for before my last run) the car transformed and was suddenly much more planted, fluid, and predictable in it's breakaway characteristics at the limit. Unfortunately I also managed to disable launch control while switching off advancetrac which led to me revving the engine at the starter like an amped up teenager, instead of it settling at a nice 4200 rpm.

Car is still on the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires (305/325) so I know there is time alone in upgrading the compound there alone. I'm also second guessing my line into the back corner of the track and the downshift to 1st I made. It was a greater than 90 degree corner though, and these GT350's don't make much steam below 3,500 rpm. Unfortunately my heel/toe work here was more focused on gettign into first than it was braking as hard as possible which I know left some time on the tables.

All in all I could have done a lot worse for my first time back between the cones in over a decade, but I have a list of "driver mods" I need to perform on myself before our next outing. Fastest run of the day below. 2nd in class in CAMC in a group of 4.

A bit of a different beast compared to the last car you were autocrossing :)

This post brings a big smile to my face. Happy to see you getting out there and setting a baseline. I really need to find some time to do that myself here soon.

I did run one event in my old 1995 mustang to serve as a bit of a bridge between the two, but yes, drastically different. Car weighs over 1,000lbs more than the last car so coming to terms with that was a big change.

Another weekend out autocrossing. Was able to drop about 2 seconds overall compared to my first run and watching this video back I can see where I left some more time on the table. Foolishly didn't pack enough and by 2:30pm and I had only eaten two granola bars since I woke up at 530am and my brain wasn't 100% after the heat. Getting a better hang of the car still in this element and given that I'm still on 300 treadwear tires in a 200 treadwear class, I feel good about being able to secure another 2nd place.

Need some early morning carbs to burn throughout the day! Congrats on the 2nd place finish.

Honestly, going to a 200 TWR tire will likely shock you , and they could easily help you pick up 1-2 seconds. Congrats and glad you are having fun careening through the Cone Cornucopia that is Autocrossing, ha.

Going to be looking at more upgrades coming up soon. First of which will likely be new springs. Currently on the Ford Racing springs and swaybars for the GT350, but as you can see there's still some roll and a lot of suspension movement when loaded up hard. Also looking at stickier tires for next season which will only load the suspension more leading to more sway/and compression.

Little lean in the corners

Great comparison between accelerating out of a slalom on the inside suspension and max loading the outer suspension in a corner.
