This track time video of me has a little of everything from what might be the last track event in the country for a month... Road Atlanta, March 14-15, 2020! Chasing @Apex3V at the beginning, then getting passed by some fast Porsches, passing Miatas, a wet session where I had to adjust every lap as the track got wetter (@Apex3V girlfriend for a ride and Apex himself chasing me, but not seen in the video), and lastly, hte last 90 seconds... I talked my own girlfriend into riding along. I'll be damned if a BMW didn't get stupid in the damp and spin it out coming off 7 right in front of both of us!

@Norm Peterson , it certainly wasnt new behavior, but i didnt know he had any talks. Did you have sources on the ground i wasnt aware of?

if any are interested, below is a video from mid ohio. Its nasa de4, I "dueled" a spec iron car following a passing drill, but its obviously not racing. I alternated using the standard line vs defensive lines, giving every opportunity to make the pass. He finally does it with horse power after holding position on t2. 6:32 is a point where he damn near got me but i held him off.

I included some other fun from aboit 11-18 minutes

18:23 out are my first ever laps. An attentive eye will notice me trying to dial in marks and attentive ears will hear me selecting different gears in t6 and t9 and carousel.

@Norm Peterson , I'm not good at reading anthropomorphism apparently.

Today was club course. After my fastesr lap i get one or rwo more cleanish laps, but then it gets hectic around 19:00-23:00 territory

I've also been told by a fellow i drove with that I'm the only driver he has seen who could effectiveky drive ON the curb in T1, i discovered it by accident in my first session. It was tricky to put power doeb as evidenced by a few mistakes, but when done right, it was fast and fun

Wow, I thought the racing world was getting bakc at it, but we have no videos??

I guess it's on me and @Apex3V to provide!

I was a bit too aggressive... it looks like a too early turn in to T12 combined with my mind deciding I could do WOT through there for the first time led to an excursion that nearly cost me my life or a lot of money, but I was very fortunate.

I also caught gravel in T5 on two occassions this weekend.

I'd like to blame some serious personal issues at home that have me off my game, but being on track lifted my spirits a little bit. It's just me trying to get too much really.

The first 30 seconds are my 4 off and 2 off, followed by a personal best, followed by some passes.

I need to work on some race craft. I strat missing some apexes if I'm tense in traffic, and I tend to crab off a corner if I'm going to be side by side with someone.

Got a chance to run NCCAR located just south of the Virginia North Carolina Border on I95. We ran CCW configuration Sat and Clockwise Sunday. I've never been there before so its was a lot to take in over the weekend. Apexes are clearly marked by red dots and help tremendously. Long radius turns make up the "Peanut". Lots of fun but, tough on tires! Heres some clips of me running it both directions.

Having a little fun with Black Boss (Nick) in his stunner of a Mustang, Sounds like thunder as he launches off the corners. We took turns sharing the lead and learning each others line while avoiding the slow moving chicanes. MVP Track Time advanced group session 3 - Both of us were on slicks that were done, so we were sliding around a bit. Still a lot of fun. Thanks Nick! @Black Boss

Dave,
Good to see you again. That was the best session having fun back and forth. As you said the Michelin Slicks fall off really quick. Picked up nearly 2 seconds switching to Hoos R7's that had been used for a full race weekend at Gingerman. Will post that in the Lap time thread. Hope to see you for some more fun soon!

Geez looks like it was the " Land of Turtle Chicanes, " glad we had some TMO Stangs out there to show others how it is done!!!

This track in particular in this FULL configuration is complicated to learn and quite a few people in the advanced group had never run Autobahn let alone in the combined layout. I understand every ones desire to be placed in the "Advanced" group in an effort to stroke their ego, but if you do not know where the next turn is you better know where your mirrors are and have a rather limber left arm. Even in the 5th of 6 Sessions we still had trains forming and guys parking it in the corners while they tried to remember the next turn.

As always the biggest frustration comes from guys not watching their mirrors and taking two turns to realize they are about to get run over. The other bad thing was the track had changed its flag system to the LED light boards and while they are nice and easy to see it does not get the message across like the marshal waving the blue flag and then pointing it at you while you drive by.

It was interesting to see how the two cars made their lap times and honestly I think it was more fun chasing each other on worn out tires, struggling for grip out of the turns and sliding at mid corner.

My next event is Mid-Ohio with MVP on Sept, 18-20th. Let me know if you are going.

Dave

A really fun day! And chasing each other was more fun than setting a best lap.

Unfortunately as you said there were several drivers in the advanced group who had no situational awareness. With lap times approaching 3 minutes for them and 20 minute sessions, running into 2 or 3 of them wasted 20-40% of a session.

It’s not about car speed, I run with several other groups with slower cars and driver’s who are very situationally aware with no issues, but following mobile chicanes for 2-4 corners is no fun....

Look forward to seeing you at Mid Ohio!

I have run the South track and it is a riot , and I have heard it is quite interesting when run in the full configuration. You guys were rocking and I was just repeating your comment as it seemed you did have to spend a lot of time behind others. I viewed the video the same way Blackboss mentioned -- seemed like alot of folks not paying attention to those around them.

If anyone ever needs some consistent laps at VIR to view, I present this for consideration. With COVID, attendance is down, so I've had the most open track I've ever had at NASA. I also figured out to grid towards the front, nad if you're brave on cold 200TW tires, the gap you can make to faster cars on better tires that are a lot slower to warm them up than I am will give you a nice gap for a session to run some good open lap times. So, here ya go.....

Nice recovery. Guessing it was still on your mind through Oak Tree, though.

Did that smoker put down a little oil just in time for you at about 16:08?

Nice to see times from a car with power more comparable to mine . . . thanks.

Here's a few videos. Mu fast lap with a few extras, plus some fun passing at 9:57 out.

A wet session, where I took the lead 2 turns after leaving the pits and never look back to win a DE4 session on a wet but slowly drying track.

Plus, a spin!
