Had to be a great feeling just to get it on he track. After my coyote/roadrunner swap in my sn95 my spring rates were way out of wack as well. Honestly im still trying to find a good set up. Fyi, you probably took 150 lbs plus blower weight off the front end with that swap if you were coming from a iron block 2v. Sounds like not a bad shake down weekend though. What suspension do you have on there?

Definitely felt great to have the car on-track again. The few events I did with it last year never felt like I was driving a 'complete' car... no gauges, a 'roughed-in' alignment that ended up being not very good, and constantly babying the car due to uncertainty. This event, it actually felt like I was driving a complete car - drove straight, working gauges and shift light, brakes held up amazingly.

As for weight lost - 150# is very near what I had assumed, I had assumed a 200# weight savings up front due to the items mentioned, plus adding a tubular front subframe and LCA's.

Car's suspension is MM kit up front (tubular subframe/LCA's/camber plates/bump-steer kit/steering gear bushings), with Koni yellow double-adjustables. Rear is also solid-axle, MM kit (torque arm/panhard rod/LCA's), also Koni yellow double-adjustables. I believe the bars are the Steeda parts (1.375" hollow front, 1" solid rear).

The spring setup assumes the weight loss, as well as a MR change to go from standard spring/shock to coilover... I have the previous corner weights and spring rates, my initial goal was to match the previous wheel rates (as I liked how the car rode pre-Coyote). All I can think is that I mis-assumed my motion ratios, or the car didn't lose as much weight as initially thought. Need to get new corner weights ASAP. Current front/rear ride frequencies (calculated - suspect there are errors) are at 1.24 & 1.62 respectively, I have a different spring setup that will bump up to 1.75 & 2.12. During the process of changing springs, I will do some measurements to capture the true motion ratio of the shocks to see how close my initial calculations were, and go from there. Looking forward to Gingerman next month!

Seeing you have all MM suspension you can contact them for spring rate issues. If you buy the springs from them its free info. If you don't buy your springs from them there is a charge for there advice. I have the same back half set up, with a SLA front. So I can't help that much with spring rates.
 
Thanks-didn’t realize it was free when you bought parts from them. Tried calling today, got put on hold for nearly 20 min before I hung up. Will install the other springs I have this weekend, and see what shock adjustments feel like on local roads.

Also-did an underbody inspection, and turns out the front subframe was working overtime to protect the engine....

Absolutely - another 1/2" or so, and the oil pan drain plug would have started to file away... the car was fine last year at Waterford and Gingerman, it was never driven fast at Grattan (did Grattan, but was in pouring rain)... goes to show how much more elevation change there is at Grattan!
 
As promised, some video footage of the car at Grattan... many scrapes, a few mistakes (okay, maybe a bit more than 'a few') but lots of fun. At first glance, steer inputs into turns need to slow down a bit (pretty much everywhere), and need to be more smooth with throttle applications.




 
The first good bump on the first video was nuts! Lol You have that 5.hoe sounding good too! I generally don't like the sound of them. I am pro coyote, but not pro sound for the coyotes. Lol As for the driving, I can't comment as you are further along than me. :)


Appreciate the compliments. Also am inclined to agree with you on the sound. Stock for stock, I appreciate the sound of a New Edge more than a base Coyote. If every base Coyote sounded like a Boss from the factory, I think the world would be a better place....

Since this particular coyote is breathing through a standard New Edge cat-back and long-tubes, I tend to think that's mainly why it sounds how it sounds.

Interesting enough, I had a few comments on how quiet the car was from the outside, even full-tilt on the straight. Means good things for pass-by, but would love to get some of the dB's out of the interior (better sealing on firewall holes as well as in trunk.)
 
Another event, another awesome weekend of time trials with SCCA at Gingerman Raceway.

Improved from my PB of 1:43.9 last year, down to 1:43.1 this year. Saturday was a great day of dry track, Sunday was a great wet day of remembering how to drive in the wet. 2:02.3 wet lap time, good enough for second-fastest time in that particular session.

The car ran great, the new spring and shock settings allowed the car to feel much more buttoned-down (no more lifting wheels through T9!) and allowed me to more-confidently place the car at-speed.

Car came home in one piece, just have a few tweaks to do and check fluids, then it's ready for the next event in early August. Going to try some lightly-used Pirelli DH slicks for the next event, now that I have a bit more seat time in the car on various 200TW tires.

The laps above (and some slightly faster laps not on video) were good enough to get a 3rd-in-class finish overall in the event, very happy with how the car feels so far.

I like seeing mustangs catch vettes. :) I am sure they don't expect that new edge to be that fast. Lol

-Boxing in the rad and oil cooler to fascia openings

-Found a decent deal on a DSG Terminator Cobra hood, feel better about this route as compared to cutting up the car's existing hood. This will hopefully get some of the hot air out of the engine bay.


Will add pictures as these mini-projects are completed. Waterford Hills next (the track I run hot at most consistently, so will be anxious to see if these items make a huge difference).

That Vette and I were extremely well-matched throughout the weekend. He was running mid-1:43's (1:43.4, I believe), my best was 1:43.1. Then in the wet, his best was 2:02.8 while I managed a 2:02.4. Though he was probably cruising around with a/c and could actually hear himself think...

Definitely huge credit to the car and the fairly-new RS4's I had brought out in case of rain (I don't think the nearly-done Falken's would ave done as well in the rain.)

I have a brand new set of Trackspec Motorsports hood louvers for the Cobra hood if you're interested. I bought them for mine but ended up making my own instead.

Quick update before the weekend, a more thorough write-up will happen later...

-Water temp gauge installed.. easiest way to do it with what I had available was to add a collar on the upper rad hose. This meant running an additional ground wire, but no biggie. Function-checked, it works good. Can finally keep an eye on water and oil temps.

-Termi hood delivered, it has a few chips on the leading edge (knew this before commited to purchasing it). Hoping this will help with some of the overheating issues noticed. Fitting it this weekend, hoping it will be straightforward.

-Will quickly remove the front fascia to see if I can figure out some side deflectors to box in the rad and oil cooler, this will also compliment the termi hood.
 
Well, the car is ready to go for this Friday. Completed all planned tasks (and a few unplanned.)

The water temp gauge works fine, sampling temp at the top rad hose.

Termi hood installed. A bit of touch-up paint for some scratches, but it looks good on the car. Hoping to see an improvement in running temp this Friday, and have plans to install some additional venting in the hood (thanks, PatientZero!)

While installing the water temp sensor, noticed a slight leak at the RR caliper... I believe an unplanned off-track excursion at Gingerman is to blame. Thankfully, a new jumper hose and hardware seemed to fix it after a quick street drive.
