I believe you can get a better price directly from Calimer if you provide the core.

When I talked to Ben a couple of months ago he told me his supply of cores had dried up so he had to have my trans to rebuild. That complicates things as I am risking truck freight shipping both ways. I hate truck freight, it takes forever and stuff just "falls off the dock" way too often. Insurance is just a pain in the ass when something goes missing. UPS quote is $800USD one way, totally traceable but that's a ridiculous cost. I can drive to his place from mine in a day to drop off and pick up, but not now, I wouldn't get across the border and if I did I would have to quarantine for 14 days both times and that's a non-starter. Covid is screwing everything up.

Right now, it seems to me the easy button is buy the parts and get a local guy to do the install work. I have a dialogue going now with Syncrotech and will see where that goes, I like the look of their carbon kit. It's a lousy time to try to get things in and out of the US, it's always difficult up here but right now it's ridiculous.

Silly thought, but since Multimatic is a Canadian Company and they have done a ton of work on wickedly fast Mustangs over the years, is that a source for transmissions and other parts for our Northern North Americans to get some parts at Loonie prices??!!

Have you looked at the cost to buy from a salvage yard and they ship to Calimer? Could fix your timeline as well as lower costs. Just a thought.

I did but just to buy one in Canada. Wreckers up here want $2300USD for a 17,000 mile trans, $2KUSD for a 45,000 mile one. But that's Canadian yards, I'll look at US yards and see what's available.
Thanks for the idea, I never thought of that.

I doubt it, they build the GT4's at Multimatic in Markham and the price zone they operate in it going to be way out of my range. They could probably hook me up with a DCT, which I would love, but I am not interested in putting $25K USD into it.
I might explore that though, maybe they'd have some take out tranmissions laying around, doubt it would be cheap and it would just be another stock gearbox which doesn't really help long term.

JDee , you are on my exact wavelength, as I was thinking about the fact that they might have some take outs and I should have been more precise in my thought. I do know they are not inexpensive, but often companies like Multimatic have parts they will not use in their full race prepped machines.

Also found this guy in Toronto.

Yeah man! I am contacting him, I think he's actually in London.
Hella good price depending on what he's doing to the various stages he's selling.
Thanks Dave!

Reviving this thread since its along the same lines. Does any body have any info on how long calimer Stage 3 MT82s are lasting?? I see in facebook lots of negative comments but with no details which makes me think its just noise. Tremecs also blow up as does any other transmission in a track setting.
