I have loved slot cars since I was a kid and my parents took me to one of those huge commercial tracks. I used my lawn mowing money to buy one and eventually started building my own chassis. Unfortunately, modern competitive slot cars look nothing like the real thing.
I also have a collection of modern 1/32 cars, H/O and even some custom built Hot Wheels cars. I know that at least one other person on here builds die cast cars.

Still have my tackle box full of HO cars, we had an epic 4 lane track covering 3 full sheets of plywood including a banked corner set.. 20 volts of lead acid batteries powering the track. We quit using transformers. The higher powered cars that had the steel "wings" under the car for "gripping" the power rails were very sensitive to voltage change. When your competitor was about to head into a sharp corner your best move was to let off of your throttle. The voltage and amperage available would peg and your competition just flew off the track. Spent many days in the basement running races.
I have a fair collection of model planes and cars some finished, others still in the boxes. Probably haven't built one in 35+ years.
Like 67GTA said, the 1:1 model in my garage seems to get most of the attention.

I have a lot of customers in California and considering the drought and the unbelievable fires they have had this year, I felt my hobby was to support all of them, so I am purchasing wet products from NAPA, Sonoma, Ynez, Temecula , Russian River , St. Helena, and Mendicino. With all the fine folks on TMO from California I just feel it is my civic duty to help their economy. Cheers!

Dang XR7 , by the time you are ready to race aren't you dog tired, haha? Sorry, it is a Covid Friday night and I am busy with a subtle Acampo, California Cab and really bad jokes kind of go hand in hand.

PS - is your dog that is curled up a Corgi by any chance?

Had a very successful corporate party/wedding band, played hundreds of upscale gigs, cut some CD's and did really well until my drummer passed away. I haven't played since.

Yes that's my Corgi, Ray. Had him 11+ years, he was a rescue just like the two others in the photo. He was my garage buddy. Biggest small dog you can find.
Unfortunately Ray had developed DM which slowly robs the dog the use of his legs, no pain though. He survived about 18 months. A Trooper right to his last breath.

XR7 love the rescues. With you on that one, had plenty of dogs and they all found me.

I also enjoy baking

Nice work on both your hobbies.
Oh, man, and I am just heading out to the grocery store...................

I like working with wood, home projects, garage addition, bath remodels, kitchen remodel, deck, etc., but coming from a metal back ground I always find myself trying to be a little to exact with measurements.

As far as rescues goes these three are #s 4, 5 and 6. First three were, a Keeshond, then two collies. #5 is the beagle mix under my right arm, the fuzzy one, Lizzie. She was the toughest one by far, feral from Missouri, living on the run with her brother until they were finally caught and "deported" to Minnesota. #6, Nikki, otherwise known as big Red is also a Beagle mix from Kentucky. We do so well at adopting dogs in Minnesota that we have to import dogs from out of state to keep up with the demand.
My first two pups were Alaskan Malamutes, wonderful dogs and I loved those two, however I saw all these dogs needing a home and decided a used dog was fine for me. Ray in particular needed a home, four owners had given up on him, but my wife, myself and our Collie found him to be a wonderful pup.

Always enjoyed working with wood. Here's a few of my projects old and new. Took three years of drafting and design all my own stuff. I haven't an artistic bone in my body so most of this stuff isn't too fancy.

I also enjoy hanging Christmas lights. There are just over 30,000 lights and it took me about 72 full hours over one and a half months to complete. So if you need a break from reading 302BOB's posts - Take a peek at this:

Thanks Tyme, I enjoyed that because I really like saving all the time it takes to put up Christmas lights and in fact I have not done it in over 15 years! Thus I have saved 1080 hours of hanging lights during that period ( 15x72 ), or 45 days to put it another way. That has given me quite a bit of time to help the California economy and their interesting culture fermenting the grape.

Seriously , my wife loves putting lights in the Monte Python areas of our house ( shrubbery ), so we do illuminate the neighborhood a bit.

Skier and Flyfisher. When I get to race around the country I always add a day to my travel to go fish. My favorite guilty pleasure is getting to race the SCCA majors SE opener at Homestead. Then flyfish in the Keys the coming week and then race the next weekend at Sebring before flying back to Cali. Add in great Cuban food in South Florida...what a great place!
