Tracking w/o handling package?

I just bought a used base 2020 GT500 w/ the Recaro seats and now that I've driven it around town, I definitely want to track the car. There's a Chin Track days coming up at Sebring and wanted to get your input on what I should get before to properly prep the car. I'm definitely getting wheels and tires (probably the Cup2s but maybe slicks) and brake fluid. But what else is essential? My car doesn't have the oil catch can or handling aero bits. Would appreciate advice from all who have tracked their GT500 extensively.

The usual, check pads, bleed brakes, fluids nut and bolt everything, track day insurance, air pressure, Snell helmet. If you are new at this, I'd just run 200TW street tires and start the learning curve. These cars are pretty track capable as they sit.
You may want to add a properly mounted fire extinguisher in the car, within reach, and a bigger one for your pit area.

Thank you for the quick replies! I'll check on brake fluid, what fluid do you guys like the best?

It's been a few years since I've been racing but I have many years experience tracking several different cars: Lotus Exige, Mitsu Evo IX & X, Porsche Cayman, and a Miata for a while. But this is my first "muscle car" or car that's this heavy with this much power so just want to make sure I am prepared to handle this beast! I can't wait given how amazing this car drives on the street!

Which Brake fluid?? Thankfully, it's not a question about Oil. Those get "Special" quick. LOL

I run the Castrol SRF. Its pricey but holds up to heat well. Others use Motul, Brembo or anything with a near 600 deg boiling point.

I was invited to drive the GT-500 at Autobahn when Ford was in town. I had a great time. You will love it on track. The 500 "Almost" makes it too easy to go fast.

Since you have track experience that’s great. This is a new car and designed for the average track day enthusiast out of the box. @50Deep tracked his stock for the most part when he first bought it. Do a once over and buy track day insurance, get a good helmet and just realize it’s a heavy car that has a ton of grip so it’s nothing compared to any of the previous cars you’ve tracked. Have fun, be safe and afterwards come back and we will help you spend your money.

Your brake fluid is already the Ford’s DOT4 high temp. I ran Sebring a month or so ago. I was able to run around 28 min per tank of fuel there. They sell fuel at the track but it’s pricey. I try to carry enough fuel with me for two fill ups. i racked up 107 miles at Sebring in one track day. Set your tire pressures to 26-28 lbs cold before you start.
I only get 22-24 min per tank at PBIR where I track almost every week
My son (in a GT350R) and I will be running Sebring again in April and June with hooked on driving. I only track my car. i have approx 1100 miles and less than 100 have been on the street. I trailer it to events. I’m on my 4th set of tires and second set of brake pads. If you like your paint job either get PPF done or use track armor for the day. IT WILL GET CHIPPED.

Biased to the color. I did 40 laps trouble free at road America. Definitely recommend getting track alignment and oil catch can. The alignment will help immensely and the catch can will keep the oil out of the blower. Great car but uses a TON of fuel. Only drawback in my opinion.

Speaking of using a ton of fuel, do gt500’s have different in tank fuel systems than other s550’s to prevent fuel starvation below half a tank?

I've owned two FP vehicles - a 2014 GT500 and a 2016 GT350. Both have dual fuel pumps, and I'd be shocked if the new GT500 doesn't have them too. It just seems to be a standard FP strategy. It's too bad that FP couldn't put a larger fuel tank into the new GT500. I had a W124 MB 500E and it came from the factory with a 90 liter fuel tank, 28% larger than all the other W124 cars.
