Couldn’t you have done this with a base mustang instead? You would just need a crate illuminator engine. I think it would have saved money and a GT350R.

The backstory is long and starts on page 1 of 46 - it’s definitely worth the read so I won’t spoil it other than saying it’s not what you think.

Here's a bit of the history before page 1 of this thread:

Nice work at Gingerman. Ran against Vanucci at COTA a couple years ago, dude is quick. Almost 6 seconds margin of victory for your final race--good stuff!

Picked up the Transmission from Liberty's. They did a great job with fast turnaround.

Turns out the output shaft nut had worked loose, allowing reverse gear to shift (pun intended) rearwards on the shaft. Symptom was reverse lockout but this failure also caused thrust damage on the 3rd and 4th driven gear, Blocker rings, Cluster bearings along with the Reverse gear and Synchro.

Parts bill was over $1,600, but they did a refresh including Bronze Fork pads.

Apparently this is not the first 3160 failure due to the output shaft nut backing off. So beware if you're running a 3160. I've now paint marked the nut and will check 2x per season (even although it requires Driveshaft removal).

Thanks for sharing, Nick. Did you happen to ask them about any trans upgrades? Dog-legs or gear upgrades?

Nick, is there a torque value on the output shaft nut or is it a torqued to a certain tolerance that effects something within the transmission?

Looking good. Which one is faster?
