The magnum XL comes with a scatter shield....just one more reason to consider one.
I Know..... but did not think that the clutchs would by playing frisby like this. Costs will be keeping me with the Calimer stage 3 for a while. Just can't swing the 6 grand for a swap. (Clutch, driveshaft and tranny)

Yup, this one is getting welded up.
Make sure you stop drill all the cracks and chamfer all the holes so you can get down in there and fuse the material all the way through.

Well looks like its not that easy to get a blanket on with the MT82... I guess thats one of the reason they are lighter. Did not take into account the Xl/stage 3 debate.

Well the housing is welded up. Sent it to a wheel repair shop as they had more experience with aluminum then my shop. Hope it holds together! Looks like we will be all set for the 17th.

Sent the clutch and flywheel to get balanced and they left it a t zero, it was a little off but within the tolerances of a normal OEM clutches. Usually we always send them to get balanced but last time around we were in a hurry to get on track again. Will be taking extra care to make sure everything mounts ok.

Feeling great!! Have my new R7 and Zeknova slicks mounted and ready to race. Sadly no time to cure the slicks before this Sundays race. So will start with the cheapos and if I am not doing so well will use the new Hoosiers in the last 20 min race. The Zeknova are 300/680-18 so the gearing will actually suite me a little better. The 300/680-18 is dam near exactly the same width (slightly wider if anything) as the 315/30-18 Hoosiers (basically 650) but will raise the car 1.5cm.

Happy to see that we have a line up of some 20 cars for this race. At least 3 cayman gt4 cars. This time no Camaro.... They never seem to last at the track (Thats for the LS swap guys)

Fingers crossed!!

Hoping the vibration is gone now so I can actually show a video!
I get weird vibes from rubber pickup. Sometimes it feels like the wheels are coming off at 130 mph but after a bit the rubber wears off and it smooths out. Very unsettling.

Last night on the way home from the shop (still street legal).. I had every which P0300 code imaginable and was worried I would not mae it home. First though was, needs a Crank relearn... And sure enough got home "relearned" the beast and away we go. Just to make sure, I went out again for some quick logs and everything came up rosy. Lambada steady at 0.83 and no wierd false knocks. Now just packing the car for a early morning one hour drive to the track and ready to stomp on some Caymans (or try too..)

Left the limiter at 7800 rpm. resisting raising it till I get a hot shot oil pump. Though not going to go past 8000rpm.
Then again if I start losing a lot..... maybe that will change.

Its probably a good idea Bill! Every time I think of building a engine from scratch (again, and again...), the idea of 7800rpm sounds pretty good.

Actually, looking over the logs, advance is at 26.5 degrees and Knock adds another 3 degrees. So the car is in a pretty conservative tune. Could add a degree to each but ... its already putting out good power on 93 fuel. Why push it.
Driver mods will be cheaper and healthier... (eat less). I like @flyhalf 's take on weight loss , its a lot cheaper to cut down on pizza then add a carbon fiber hood!! Same results!

Well thats what you get for getting to cocky.... all my hopes went up in a big puff of white smoke and steam.

Water got in the oii and came up through the intake as I was taking a right... Spun out on the spilled oil and water with nice big smoke screen...

Hoping (praying) its just a head gasket..... At least no window into the block so far..

Looking on the brightside.. Now I can get that nice oil pump..

Even got a UFO in the shot

Thanks guys, Waiting to see whats the damage. If its catastrophic.... Maybe a gen3 Aluminator short block?? Or would the 12:1 compression be to much for a mix a race gas and 93.

My last log showed everything in good shape for the running 93 as far as knock goes etc.

The add for the aluminator 5.2XS says “premium gas only” so I imagine that means pump premium. It’s only 91 octane here so 93 + race gas should get you some cushion.

Was happy to see, (funny to see the word happy sneak in some how).. That the gen 3, 12:1 short block takes gen1 heads, assuming my ported gen 1 heads are not friggin dead.

Watching the race from the control tower was eye opening. On the straights the fastest car by far was the E90 M3 with a supercharger... It left the fastest car with 580rwhp and 1300kg in the dust.. But lost his place quickly in the corners.

My mechanic is offering to install a Nitrous system to try out with a 50 or 75 setup, on a buy it if you like it offer. I have been saying no for ages but the little gready voice in my head is nagging me.

He took out a clients S550 GT with all the usual ford racing goodies and set a lap time of 2:07 on street tires using a 100 shot on the straights.. Probably not going to last long... But still a very impressive time (my best is in the 2:04 range)

I would bet the "try it if you like it" would be "like it" as soon as you hit the button and then "Don't like it" after the next motor unloads...personally I don't trust that stuff. There's gotta be somewhere else to gain some speed. I'm in the same boat as my main competition (the super production and GT1 cars) have all upped their game with "new" or "enhanced" motors after getting an embarrassing whoopin' form an old stock body mustang with a junk yard motor all year... They still hold me up in the corners (Praise Cortex) but run away from me on the straights. I can no longer compete with a car that has warp drive.
