Here is the last dyno run I have, its not final as we are still have not got the tune down pat... ( No time to test the car due to Covid lock-downs). Its on 93 gas and we had a tire slipping problem below 4000 rpm(was on street tires:banghead:)

@Fabman has better numbers with a gen 2 in his build thread.

Stock gen 2 coyote, ported CJ intake, intake only cams, ARH long tubes, 47# injectors, Electric water pump. It makes 476/397 on e85 and 460 /399 on 91 octane.

About the CJ manifold... Love it BUT.. I think they should come with a warning that says PORTING WILL BE REQUIRED
Ok bringing this thread back. Now that I have nothing to do while I wait for my Aluminator and other various parts to ship, it may be time to look at porting my CJ manifold.
Mad Hatter.....did you do the porting? What did you use? I saw some vendors will do it for you but I wouldn't mind giving it a shot as long as I can't seriously screw it up. I'm pretty good with a Dremel but from what I saw on Youtube you have to go waaaay down the runners. I need to know what tools I need before I decide to take the plunge.

All you should need is a long mandrel for sanding cartridge rolls that fits your Dremel. Rolls with assorted grits from maybe 320 to 800 should be enough.
I’m sure Hatter will chime in soon.

Thanks......I will look for the long mandrel. The sanding rolls I have used so as long as I can reach the deep recesses then I can do this.

Yup, what Grant said. that and epoxy to fill in the big gaps. Its not very difficult, but does take a little time. In the end most of it was done by hand but we did not go beyond 500 grit.

You can see that its pretty hideous.

I think a good bang for the buck might be a Boss 302 manifold with Barbers cnc porting. Your not replacing all the other shiznit needed for the Cj and saving grip load of money at the same time. Oldly enough I have a Ford Racing Boss 302 manifold that I can part with if anyone is interested.

These tests drive me crazy... A new stock 2018 manifold looks really good inside with smooth surfaces etc... and a Ported 2018 makes more power..... Then, as we have seen many times, the CJ manifold is a unfinished product with truly terrible gaps and mold lines.. even the ports don't line up well. I think that if you do not sort out the internals of the CJ you better not bother installing it.

That being said, am pretty sure a ported CJ will beat a ported 2018. One look tells you that it will flow way more air if its any way cleaned up inside.

As mentioned before... the CJ should come with a warning... UNFINISHED PRODUCT Some assembly requiered!!

These tests are with "as delivered" manifolds unless otherwise specified. In this series of videos I have only seen the 2018 GT manifold being ported, so a Ported anything is going to be better, especially a CJ because its so rough. The Boss manifold is a great offering being close to the CJ but I have not seen one in person so I don't know what they look like inside. A Ported Boss would be a great alternative to the CJ IMHO.

With how bad the assembly of the CJ manifold is... has anyone done a vacuum test on one prior to and after porting to make sure there aren't any pin holes or unbonded seems? Based on what you guys have shown I sure as heck would. If there were an issue at the top of one port that be a great way to vaporize a piston. Maybe I'm thinking too extreme.

Currently running a Boss 302, never dyno tested it, but it sure does "feel" good! HA! Looks good too!

For less than $400 I think I'm sending my CJ off to Air Flow Solutions (Bret Barber) for a professional porting. From what I saw they can also cut/separate the manifold so the entire unit is cleaned up but that race port is a 6 month turnaround and very pricy but he claims up to 20 HP gain

Yup, that's who did mine. I believe that high buck port job is 20 hp but if you consider the $350.00 port job is 13-15 hp that extra 5-7 hp to get you to 20 are pretty expensive.

The Boss manifold does look like a production piece inside. Some minor mold lines etc, but nothing horrible. Switching to the CJ does give that car a nice extra kick in the pants.

I think it would be difficult to get to 470rwh in N/A form with a gen1 or 2 with the boss setup.. My Boss manifold went to a buddies car that has a 100 shot of Nitrous, boy that thing moves on the straights with about 520rwhp

I completely agree with Mad Hatter. I looked inside my BOSS 302 intake before installing it and all the surfaces are super smooth. The weld/bond lines are consistent and most everything looks super smooth. Thanks for sharing EF1, port job for my BOSS 302 is now on the list!

Cool to know. Now I gotta remember to keep an eye out for a used CJ Bret Barber ported intake.

To go on a mental tangent here (dreeeeeeeam land) ... I'm wondering what would happen with the GT350 heads on my Gen 1 block and the BOSS 302 intake vs the GT350 intake.

Mine made 447 rwh on the dyno a good day with stock heads, cams, exhaust manifolds and cats on 93 octane. I think you could get to 470 with headers, ported heads and cams.
