This is so true, before I even messed with real cars, especially aero. We even had a local 5 house race series in our neighborhood.

We built a big track, 4 lanes covering 3 sheets of plywood. A 12v battery & a 8v battery hooked up in series for 20 volts and plenty of amperage. Tackle box full of cars and some special throttle controller. Girls, full scale cars, family and haven't touched the slot cars in over 40 years. Maybe when they take my keys away?

Found some old slot cars in the basement with my grandson and he was quite enamored. He wanted to know if we could find the track and controls but I had to let him know they were models we used when we went to big tracks at various Slot Car venues/businesses. Lost hobby is so true, and in checking to see if there were any places to electrify these old models I did not find one.

I was a kid when my Uncle owned " Leonards Hobby Shop " in Toronto. He had a huge slot car race track in the basement of the store. It was a big deal and those racers took it seriously. I think they had club and many members were involved. I wonder why it faded away.
