Was that when one of the Miatas lost his driver's rear wheel on the track?
That was the 4th session, I just got a 1:42 out of that session. The poor Miatas demanding a full course black flag worked for me as I needed gas bad, haha.
For some reason it seems like I only got 1 good day out of the goodyears. They just kept slipping after the first session. I'm thinking of R7's for Sonoma in August.

Well that’s not good news. I am not trying to pay $1300 for one day of great performance. We’ll see how long they last me… the Cup 2 FP spec lasted 5 days.

Ryan are you rotating the Goodyears often, as just curious, since it seems there is a pretty big discrepancy with what some drivers are getting for wear compared to others. Not suggesting anything, just wondering, since I know at one track I run the decent wear on one guy's car is indicative of the smooth asphalt and his constant movement of the tires from one side to the other.

Year/Make/Model/Trim: 2021 GT 500 CFTP
Track/Course: Daytona
Best Lap Time: 2:06.16
Tire: 315/325 30/ZR20 - R888R
Suspension: Stock with alignment.
Brakes: All Stock
OTS PBD Tune and E85

First time there, wild wild place. TNIA event, so struggled to get a clear lap, lap after this was fuel starving into the Bus Stop. This speed caused me to assess my safety...179.6MPH without a cage...o_O

I would add...a great alternative could be a supercar3 Tire. They are good with good wearing and consistency.
3R last 3 days. And what psi are you running hot?

Good point. I can only rotate side to side with my wheels, and I did that from the first day to the second. I did drive the car home on the tires after the first track day.

I was getting up to 39 hot with the 3R's. I was shooting for 32 given that seemed to work with the cup 2's. On my 3rd session they were 39 psi hot and measured 15°F hotter on the inside of the tire vs the middle and outside. Seems like they grow more than cup 2's?

32 hot is what you want
39 they will be soooo greasy.
Starts 26 cold session 1.take it easy first 2 laps and then increase pace. And check every session after. With the day getting warmer you will experience a bigger raise in pressure
So after session 1 come out hot. Put hot pressure at 32. And do the same for session 2.
Last you may want to consider a real squared set up to.rotate with the rear too. That will give you way more life out of the tire.
hope this help
Ale

I was there as well and had another guy w/ a GT350R tell me that he's only gonna get one day out of the Super 3R's. I was interested in getting them but I think I'll stick w/ the Cup 2's. Specifically the ones made in the US and not France. I have them both and they have different treads.

39 sounds too hot for either tire, but one has to always remember that the hot temp for one brand does not always equate to the same for another. Especially in this case where we are discussing a 100 TWR tire ( Goodyear 3R ) to the Sport Cup 2 with a 180 TWR. May try out the 3Rs later as my two main tracks to run are quite easy on even Hoosier R7s, so it they will give equal life at Motorsport Park Hastings and Heartland Motorsports Park, the Goodyears may be an alternative with the pricing being so much less. I still have a new set of Sport Cup 2s to try out too, so it will be interesting to see how they all compare. I have run A7s/R7s for years , but always on much lighter cars than the Mach 1.

Flyhalf is super fast so I would sure use his temp recommendation on the 3Rs as a guide. On lighter cars, in the past I found 33-34 ( hot )was where I wanted to be on the Cup 2s.

Now they've got US vs France? Awh man, talk about most complicated tire ever.

Previously, I lived on Cup2 before the GT500 was announced, and Ford worked with them (and our own beloved Billy J) to get it just right for that car. For instance, just with 305/30/20, I had bounced between A0 (Audi), * (BMW), K1 (458), K2 (488/Pista), M0 (Mercedes), N0/N1 (Porsche), ... and I know Jaguar has one too, and they all have slight differences from overall tire height, tire width, sizes and widths of the contact patches, tread depth, load rating, etc.

What are you going out on them cold? I usually run 25 cold and I end up around 33 which seems just about right for 3R.

I started with 26 cold in the morning. Ended at 32. I tried adjusting with the heat throughout the day to stay at 32 hot, but it seemed to keep rising more then expected. Came off with 39- lowered to 32 when they were hot etc. I think I just need to pay better attention to the tires as previously stated. I usually use 2-3 laps to warm up and get settled in before going for it.

Chez-whiz..............that is one fast lap and I hope someone got you some beer and a brat after that run. I have friends with fast Vettes and other beasts who have not gotten that kind of time. You should be pleased?!
