Were you using the stock slave cylinder with this clutch on the MT82? With yours being a 2011, there may have been a thin shim under the CSC?
I used the new Ford OEM slave cylinder that came with the Mantic. One of the reasons I chose the Mantic was it was a complete kit with everything needed for the clutch swap including clutch, oem slave cylinder, lightened chromoly flywheel, and ARP flywheel bolts. I didn't have to chase parts and as we all know some parts especially certain ARP bolts have been impossible to get. My 2011 had the early MT82 with the longer bell housing that required a shim under the slave cylinder. I reinstalled the shim and measured the preload as instructed by Geoff at Mantic to make sure everything was good before installing. If I haven't said it before Geoff and Mantic has provided the best customer service I have seen in a long time.

I have a Mantic 9000 series twin disk that I put in with the Calimer Stage 2 MT82 in March. I plan to keep it. I sent it back to Mantic yesterday to switch out the 23 spline disks for 26 splines. I forgot to mention that in the above post.
Ah yes, I remember reading that....just so that you aren't using a stock clutch.

No the stock clutch will not hold up the rpms after the ported boss intake and throttle body. That is what started this whole mess. My original MT82 had nearly 94,000 miles on it and was still shifting fine when the clutch stuck to the floor at Barber Motorsports Park and I could not shift. Due to the mileage I decided to send it to Ben Calimer for a Stage 2 build to prevent future issues while it was out for the clutch replacement. They told me for my rwhp and use that was more than I needed. The rebuild died a horrible death on the street with less than 1,200 miles including 1 track day. Calimer is telling me everything is destroyed but the case. The input shaft is even twisted. My options are the Calimer Stage 3 with a 26 spline input shaft or the Magnum XL swap. I am really looking at the Magnum XL over another Calimer built MT82 for obvious reasons. The money isn't that much different and I get a new transmission with a warranty. I have pretty much decided on the Magnum XL at this point with the 2.66 first gear. I am now trying to locate everything I need to do the swap.

There’s also comfort in knowing you can internally service the Tremec down the road without having to send it off to one of the very few shops that will even touch the MT82. Couple hundred $’s of specialty tools is all it takes. Way more options and availability of parts as well.

Those are valid considerations. After this parts availability and support are important down the road.

What specialty tools did you buy to service yours?

There’s a long reach puller listed in the Ford Service Manual for disassembly of the TR-6060 Tremec in the GT500’s (multiple pieces, see pic below). They have Rotunda/OTC part numbers and I sourced some form Freedom Racing and some used on EBay. The puller is just barely long enough reach for the extended length output shaft in the Magnum XL, but it worked well. I’ve seen some videos where guys made regular gear pullers work by using multiple arms linked together. The internals of the TR-6060 and the Magnum XL are pretty much the same, so the Ford Service Manual was perfect for guiding me through disassembly and reassembly.

Well. after taking apart my Calimer Stage 3...... It looks like I might as well join the Magnum XL crowd. Which version is better for track is the question!! the 2.66 XL seems to have a really long third, but the 2nd to 3rd change is closer

No, the 2.97 trans has the wide 3-4 shift. That's why I went with the 2.66. Its a much closer shift. The 2.97 was just too big a gap.

Look at the chart again. The 2.66 has a closer 3-4 shift.

actually the 2.66 has a better rpm at 5750 instead of 5500 in the 2.97, (2nd to 3rd). it just seems odd to go 200kph in third.

Get the close ratio 2.66 transmission. But, swap the 5th gear overdrive for the .8 gear (assuming you swap out the 3.73s for a steeper rear gear). Otherwise, just keep the 3.73s and use 2 - 4 vs. your current 3 - 5 with the MT82.

The Kohr unit I purchased has the "Track Gears" with the close 4-5-6 shift from the 2.97 trans already installed.
I heard that they are all starting to ship that way now as that's a much better package but a quick trip to the Tremec site still shows the old ratios.
I'd want to be damn sure I got the right one personally.

Tremec:

Kohr:

However, truth be known, with the coyote I have never even used 5th gear as 7800 rpm with 4:10 gears and a 25.6 tall tire gets me 145 mph which is plenty for Laguna, Sonoma and Thunderhill.
T Hill has the highest top speed for me and I'm currently topping out at 142 mph. Not likely to go much faster than that around here.
Your mileage of course may vary....

On the other hand, the 2:97 low trans is the one preferred by Kenny Brown, so there's that.

I would love to go for the Calimer XL with dog gears.... but that will have to wait a bit. Getting a quote for parts from Calimer now, and then sit down with a calculator. At least I can sell the one I have if its in working order.

My next stop is dog rings in the Magnum.
