Blue Dragoon, welcome to TMO and whenever the rest of us see someone from Wisconsin we have to ask, " How often have you gotten to run at Road America?" Great looking car and good to see some more Mach 1 owners signing in.

Thanks for the welcome. We live about 65 miles south of RA and consider it our home track. Been tracking our now retired ‘91 NSX for 5 years now. Last year was a no event year as the NSX was waiting for parts to make track complaint but supply issues & now non-existing parts caused us to just retire and look for new, modern track car. This mach1 became available October 2021. We have 34 track days with 18 of them at Road America. I’m intermediate class in the NSX and now this mach1 will have me learning all over again.

You will learn quickly and find contrary to many long held ( and incorrect ) beliefs from some driving other makes, the Mustang is not only a very competent track car , it is surprisingly fast and fairly neutral at high speeds. Have fun and go surprise some friends!!

Thanks Bill for the advise. I’m coming from a 3000 pound mid-engine V6 with 260 whp to the wheels (215 [17”] front & 265 [18”] rear). The mach1 is a bit heavier with a ton more horsepower as I’m sure you’re aware of. My 305 front on mach1 will without doubt have me learning a new turn in but apex and turn out should be close to same. I’m pumped to get out on the track. I’ll report back with my learning the mustang character and handlings manners. Slow in - fast out !!!

Well, it‘s the end of the track season for us. Put the Mach1 in winter hibernation couple weeks ago. Got some track time in this year with the new blue car and looking forward to next spring. Met some great track enthusiasts from this forum & hopefully will see them at my local tracks next season. Goals for next year include running Road America with it’s brand new tarmac (at least a couple times), the FULL track at Autobahn CC, the usual once a month Wednesday’s at Blackhawk Farms and possibly Barber in Alabama. So till next season, I’ll be here on the forum waiting out the winter looking for interesting posts and updated photos. Dragoon Mach1, covered up, battery maintaining waiting to stretch the legs come spring.

Are you going to be at road america next year?
Yes we are, for sure, because it got a total repave, the whole 4.048 mile circuit. Dates should be June, July and October. Maybe May and August. I’ll know more when the organizers release their schedules later. Laps Inc. puts theirs out usually on Black Friday. NW Shelby Club on the 1st of the year and MVP Track Time comes out sometime in late January or early February. Road America has their own track time sponsored by themselves but it is more expensive and shorter track time than the organizers.

Well, @Vettel-ish has me thinking even more as this morning I was putting together a rough draft of track days for 2023. NW Shelby Club has their upcoming event- vetted-ish has posted above- MPV Tracktime has put up their preliminary schedule- Just Track It has their line up posted on their web site & Chin has theirs up also plus the Wednesday BFR events yet to be shown. Even though most of these can‘t be paid for yet, it gets the track mind set thinking of what can be running thru the brain. So far, this is what I have. I’d like to get to Autobahn CC a couple times but that organization has yet to post dates.

April 22-23- RA - Shelby Club
May 6-7 - RA - MVP
June 3-4 - Barber - JTI
June 30 to July 2 - RA - Shelby Club
July - open
Aug 21 - Autobahn - MVP ( conflict with BFR w/ Shelby )
Aug TBD - Blackhawk - Shelby Club
September 16-17 - Barber - Chin

So this is something I’ll modify as time goes forward, but the prospects are really awesome !! See ya out there !!

Wow, middle of February. That means 9 weeks to RA with NWSC. I got some things over the winter so here goes - GT350/GT500 center instrument gauge cluster that has the oil press with oil temperature. Stock came with lower pressure range & a vacuum which doesn’t make sense. Got a semi-pro set of nylon/plastic trim removal tool set to help in dash taken off procedure. Got a WIDE pair of driving shoes, ZAMP brand. They fit great, my other ones were just an 1/2 size bigger RaceQuip and were way too narrow. Short fat feet need a bigger toe box and the ZAMP’s are the ticket. Also got the FP (M-9601-G) blue hi flow air cleaner to replace the stock yellow paper. Well, I knew it was an Airaid unit but for some reason thought it was a Ford Performance exclusive item. Got the package and lo and behold, it has the Airaid part # 863-399 and in a stock Airaid box. Ford charges $90 while Airaid has them on their website for $65. So flame suit on for not knowing this but if others were unaware as I was, here it is. Maybe I should search TMO better or DuckDuckGo more often. Hope to have parts installed soon and those new shoes mashing the 3 pedals come April at RA !!
