Thanks!

Welcome, it will be interesting to hear how you like the Mustang compared to the BMW.
Sure I'll do that, I can't wait to find out :) As soon as I replace the front control arms, one is broken.

I'd like to see some in-car videos from your tracks over there. :)
Here are some links to my videos: ( the best I've done, from my point of view, is Spa F1 in Belgium, I just posted a video link above in my introduction, here's another, in my slow Exocet: Spa Exocet )
* My local little track, Anneau du Rhin : Anneau du Rhin M3
* Another little track not too far from me, Chenevieres: Chenevieres M3
* Hockenheim F1: Hockenheim in a friend's BMW M240i
* Dijon: Dijon M3
* And of course the famous Nurburgring: Nurburgring in a friend's Porsche 997 GT3 Cup
* Little extras: one time a year I go in the Alps to drive on ice: Flaine, BMW E46 compact . And this is what I do at home, during winter :) Sim racing
You can see all my videos on my channel Ulmi68 My channel

Hello, my name is Roger and I recently joined TMO. I've been a mechanic since high school and then an automotive machinist for the last 25 years. In January 2022 my wife and I bought the machine shop I've been working at for the past 18 years. Most of what we build is domestic performance engines. Mainly small block and big block nitrous engines based on Chevy and Ford engines. Ironically, we rarely work on modular Fords. My father bought his 2006 mustang gt about 10 years ago. It's black, grey interior, 4.6 3v 5-speed and low mileage. He has dementia and isn't supposed to drive anymore so I took possession of the mustang so he could still ride around in it when I go take care of him. I didn't drive it much at first but when my YJ needed some attention I started commuting with the mustang and discovered it's a fun car to drive. I've usually steered towards older GM vehicles: '72 Skylark, '66 Bonneville conv, '72 Nova, '74 K10, '66 C20. I still have the Nova (408 4-speed) and K10 (building an LS3 turbo for it). I started off innocently enough with bmr rear control arms and adjustable mounts to gain some traction off the toll booths and stop lights. And with some other mods I was leaning towards a drag racing build and keeping it very streetable. And then I was talked into attending an HPDE event at VIR and I became hooked on road course. A few weeks later I helped drive a Boxster in the champcar 24hr race at VIR. I had to come up with a vehicle of my own to get on the track. Someone told me "Don't do this with a vehicle that you like" so I thought, why not use Pop's Mustang? I was surprised to find out how much stuff is made for road course and that there's a spec iron series for s197 3v. So I reevaluated the parts already gathered and began the transformation to an HPDE car. My build is posted: Thread 's197hpde3v' https://trackmustangsonline.com/threads/s197hpde3v.19069/
I've had the car to VIR once and it did better than I expected. No major issues other than street pads had severe brake fade. I think this may be the most fun I've had with a car so far. Lol.

Recently joined TMO. I have been tracking cars since 2018. I started with a 2008 Z06 corvette, then after engine failure I rebuilt it, to only have another oiling issue. In 2019 I bought a 19 base GT and have since turned it into a TT3 time trail and track day car. At this point I have done 4 time trail events, and about 45 HPDE / Open track days, My plan is to try to make as many of the NASA-SE TT events in 22/23. If that goes good and I am feeling up to changing the cage in the car and doing what ever else is needed to make it a wheel to wheel race car, then maybe jump into that in later years.

Did you attend the CRMC event at Carolina Motorsports Park a couple of weeks ago? We had some of the TMO faithful there, and I would love to be able to meet more members. Post up on the "events" forum when you're running.

I was there the Friday before that event. I run most all of the Turn one days. SCCA does a TT event there once a year. and I started doing the NASA TT events. Missed the last one but I think they have 3 at CMP per year. Looks like next time I will be there will be NASA the first weekend in Nov. I was hoping to go tomorrow for the racer test and tune but work got in the way.

I'm a long time car guy who's a complete newb to road course stuff. I've always wanted to do it and turned 40 this year so its time to make that happen.
I've built several cars, driven and worked on all kinds of stuff but haven't seen any kind of track in probably a couple decades.
the last build was a cobra that would be great for this but it was pretty not great for family road trips so I rehomed it and ordered a new PP1 GT 6spd

old car 97 SVT Cobra restomod with IRS, everything from maximum motorsports, 330rwhp and 4.10 gears. the color is avalanche grey.

trying to avoid modding this one as much as possible since i went so hard into the paint on the last one. the idea was to get something I didn't have to mess with.

looking forward to making it out to angleton, tx for an event someday.

Greetings and thanks for the add! I bought my 2009 GT new fourteen years ago. It's a daily driver with almost 80K miles. I started wrenching in my teens building, large and small block Chevrolets. After 40 years I got back into cars, left the bowtie for the blue oval, and never looked back. I am getting too old to work on the Mustang without a lift, so that's pretty high on my wish list. With one track day under my belt I am a total newb.

Great to see another Carolina Mustanger. Lots of options for track days in our area. CMP, Charlotte, VIR, Road Atlanta, etc. Hope to catch you around, and keep us up to date with your schedule.

Hey all,
Scott from Athens, Ga. Been active with HPDE since 2019. Just bought a Futura Lowering Trailer so, planning to visit more tracks this year and also do some SCCA events. Look forward to meeting folks at the track. This is a photo of the Mustang when it was new. Since then I’ve squared the tires and wheels 285s all around, lowering springs, camber plates, cold air intake, diff cooler, hawk brake pads and rotors. OMP seats and roll bar are going in next month. Currently the seats are sitting in my basement, car is in the shop getting the timing chain tensioner and oil pressure regulator replaced under warranty.EB3D0E2B-F22C-48A9-B7ED-570834BADEF4.jpeg

Just found this site in a Google search and I am glad I did. I am a "grey beard" (literally since last year) and I have a 2017 Mustang GT that I started tracking in June 2018 and I have put in 5 HPDE events at Dominion, Summit Point, Pitt Race, and VIR with SCCA, Track Night In America, and Track Advantage. Summit Point is my "Home" track as it is only an hour away. I'll hit up NJMP when I get a full face helmet. I have really been enjoying the open track experience and steadily improving my car control. Getting ready to move from Novice to to Intermediate next year.

No worries about being a " Graybeard " on this site, there are corrals of us all over the US and Canada. Those of us in the US are using our Soc. Security funds to test the longevity of track surfaces as a public service to America. Check out all the tire data on here as you will want some stickier rubber on the new wheels than what your are running now.

Welcome from a grizzled old graybeard from Kneebraskee!!
