Re: Auto-Blip Install and Instruction Information

Here's my final mounting position. At first I really didn't want to mount it here but the more I looked at it and played around with it I thought it would work well. There's a small plastic cross member on the 12's (not sure if the 13's are different) and used some 3M VHB velcro to attach the AB. There's a nice opening for the cable to run through. Only issue you'll have in this position is you won't be able to adjust your steering column up any further so make sure it's in the right place if you use this location. The AB does not block any information on the dash.

Also please post up if you're using an AB and I'll update the first post in this thread.

Re: Auto-Blip Install and Instruction Information

I used it last Sat. at Homestead. Loved it. Works well. My mounting area worked perfect and was extremely accessible.

I took an instructor with on a session and he was on me about not using heel/toe....So I armed the auto-blip and he was calling me in Monday because he was so impressed and he's a race driver.

I hooked him up with Andres/Auto-Blip...so hopefully he'll be buying some.

Re: Auto-Blip Install and Instruction Information

Well, looking around this evening on where to mount the box I looked at the cup holder and because I don't take a Big Glup on track with me why not...............

It fits, the lid doesn't interfere when closed, a piece of foam to mount it on, drill a hole in the bottom to route the wire.

Install this Sunday.

the 13"s come with a plug for the rear cup holder I do believe. if you got one it might make it look nicer.

Re: Auto-Blip Install and Instruction Information

Getting ready to install my Auto-Blip on Saturday.
I read the directions, this entire thread (thanks for all the helpful ideas), and have found all the correct plugs. Luckily my skinny body can get under the dash without removing the seat.

Has anyone mounted the control box in the rear counsel storage area? It appears the wire harness is long enough. And there's an access door at the front side I can remove for running the wire into the counsel interior, then out the front, cable tie to a couple places on the dash, and to the throttle/brake/clutch. I don't keep much in that storage compartment, so the box won't get in the way, but easily accessible for on/off and adjustments.
Good idea? Bad idea? Thoughts?

Re: Auto-Blip Install and Instruction Information

Finished the install today.
I'm getting too old to be laying on the floor of a car and digging for stuff under the dash! And SRP pedals make for some sharp edges to scratch the arms . . .
Thanks to everyone who posted how-to's and tips. Overall it went in pretty easily. I removed the accelerator assembly since I couldn't find the connector release.
I'll have the box in the aft counsel storage area. Need to decide what interior wall to mount it to.
It started raining when I took the Boss out for a test, so I only drove around a couple blocks.
Later this week when I bed pads/rotors, I'll get some real practice with it.

Wire routing from the brake to clutch isn't great, but I guess it will stay away from the clutch moving parts. I went left of the clutch arm.

For anyone else who will be installing this, here's a couple connector pics to help you find the releases.
The clutch switch easily removes as a unit by grabbing the whole thing, and rotating from the back in a counterclockwise sort-of way.

Brake--first turn the blue connector about a 1/4 turn, then pull it out. The white connector release is on the back--its the indentation on the top middle of the white part.

Re: Auto-Blip Install and Instruction Information

My AB has sudden become irregular in when it kicks in. 50% of the time it works just fine, and the other 50% there was no blip. This just started occurring yesterday and was like that all day. Up till now it has worked flawlessly. Anyone else experiencing this? At first I thought it was timing between when I braked and clutched, but that proved not to be the case as the problem occurs when both are applied simultaneously. Doing the quick math and the number of downshifts I did, I am guessing the problem occurred 100 times. No wonder my legs cramp up at times :p

Check all your wiring connections.

Re: Auto-Blip Install and Instruction Information

My AB is till not functioning, and today would not blip at all while on the street. I checked all the connections and they look solid and undisturbed. When I press either the brake or the clutch, the appropriate light appears on the control box, yet no blip. Anyone have other possible ideas for me??
