Last updated on March 27, 2021 All Sizes Are In Stock And Ready For Mailing Except As Noted

If you're reading this there is no need to send me an email to ask if I'm still selling the plates. If the ad is up I'm selling them and please place your order through eBay.

I've confirmed that the 2015+ Ford Racing side pipe kit uses the same exhaust plate so if you want to tune the sound on your 2015+ these will fit. They will also fit on the kit for the 2005-2010 cars with the side pipe kit.

The discs are constructed from 18 gauge Stainless Steel and made in the U.S.A. They fit 2012/2013 BOSS 302's and any 2011+ and 2015+ Mustang that has the side pipes mounted on their car. These are NOT aluminum.

Plates/Discs available are:
1/2" - A nice improvement over stock and quiet enough to keep your neighbors happy. Also useful for tough noise restriction tracks like Laguna Seca.

fullsizeoutput_3150.jpeg

5/8" - Slightly louder that 1/2".

fullsizeoutput_3151.jpeg

3/4" - By far the most popular discs and I highly recommend them. You're starting to get more snap, crackle and pop on decel. Think Race Car With A License Plate. ;D

fullsizeoutput_3152.jpeg

7/8" - These are starting to get loud. Definitely not as loud as wide open but you still get lots of the snap, crackle and pop.

fullsizeoutput_314d.jpeg

1" - Louder but still quieter and different sounding than wide open.

fullsizeoutput_314e.jpeg

Blank - Completely close off the side pipes.

2012/2013 BOSS 302 Side Pipe Exhaust Discs Install Instructions

"Tools needed. 15MM wrench and 15MM socket and ratchet(I used a deep well so I wouldn't have to use an extension)

Step one raise vehicle I used a set of car ramps

Step two remove the two nuts at the flange and the bolt that holds the tip near the rocker panel edge

Step Three remove the side pipe assembly

Step four remove stock restrictor plate (if not installing a different sized plate skip to step six)

Step five install new sized restrictor plate (3/4" plate shown in picture)

Step six re install side pipe by first slipping over studs on flange then threading the rear bolt and loosely tighten bolt and nuts. check clearance you should be able to get you hand around the pipe from front to back adjust as necessary. Once clearance is good tighten all nuts and bolt down and recheck clearance.

Step seven repeat steps one-six for opposite side then lower vehicle and you are done. now wasnt that easy?"

"This should be good for jacking points, be careful not to put your arm in between the jack when reattaching the rocker bolt while underneath, it is easy to do and you see what I mean when doing it. If the piston ever gives way....

You will need to go just a bit forward from the jack point in the picture but that is fine, no damage worries, the rocker bolt is near the jack point in the picture. Otherwise loosen the rocker bolt before and after but that will make it a little harder to adjust. Make sure the adjustment band on the side pipe has clearance from the floor or it will rattle.

It is best to get a rubber pad for the jack, you can get them anywhere, I ordered one from Harbor Freight Tools and it works great.

The second picture shows how to install the Boss 302 exhaust discs. You remove the three bolts circled.

Quick question on these.... why can't the bolt holes be slotted in one direction? That would certainly save time in the install by just allowing them to slide out when you loosen the two mounting bolts, versus having to lower the pipe (yes, I know I'm talking about saving 30 seconds). I'll probably get the 3/4" ones soon, as catless really, REALLY amplifies the pipes to obscene levels for daily use, though the stock plates practically silence them.

Re: 2012/2013 BOSS 302 Side Pipe Exhaust Discs For Sale

quick tip for avoiding rattles after exhaust disc replacement.

when you remove the side exhaust pipes, pay attention to the imprints left on the discs, by the pipes. you can orient the pipes same way they were before to avoid rattles, since the pipes have a little rotational play. the rattles were caused by the side pipes contacting the undercarriage.

pic below shows the imprint (outlined in red) and how this side exhaust pipe was almost fully rotated clockwise.

I thought about making my own, but decided to give these a try. Don't waste your time trying to make these better or cheaper, because these are the real deal. I'm surprised Ford didn't sell these as an option. Excellent fit and quality! I'm running the 3/4" and love them.

Put the 7/8's in and absolutely love it... not so loud (my 460" ttorino is much louder) but much better tones, of interesting not is when i jacked up the car near the left rear wheel, I had three wheels off the ground the car is VERY stiff....

Measuring from the exhaust residue from my 1/2" discs approximately 2 1/16". So maybe the 1" are noticeably quieter than wide open.

Rick, there are other points along the pipe where the over-all open area is smaller then the point where the discs are located. This was done, as far as I understand, to tune out any drone. They were successful in doing this and running discs of any size are drone free. It is true the one inch discs are getting closer to the wide open sound but there is a noticeable difference and the discs tune the sound (even one inch) much better then wide open.

So far the 7/8's are amazing I was debating punching out the 3/4's to inch or bigger.

The 7/8 is a great sound, I had settled on the 3/4 as best sound and planned to run them. When I first started the project I hand cut the prototype discs, the pair of 7/8 came out the best so I used them until I had the real discs professionally made. During that time I got use to the sound and have run the 7/8 ever since.

It is a guess on my part but going to inch and an eighth would be about as large as you can go, after that there would be no difference in sound from wide open.

Got mine yesterday, very nice pieces, better than OE quality. Thanks, Rick.

Thanks, I received the two sets I ordered today. Most of the new snow has melted and hopefully there won't be too much salt on the roads. Can't wait to hear them.

Re: 2012/2013 Mustang BOSS 302 Side Pipe Exhaust Discs For Sale

I finally decided to join the party. ::) Better late than never!

Ordered 5/8" and 3/4" discs this morning. I see they won't go out until 3/30/13. Looking forward to getting them. I think the 3/4" will go in first. ;D

I'd like to just back the rear up on ramps to install these. Do you all think that will provide enough room, or is putting the front up on ramps a better approach?

Thanks, Richard. I appreciate you selling these, as well as the effort put into this site!

Ron, it depends on how familiar you are with a wrench. If very or somewhat you will be fine as you mentioned. If you normally do not work on cars then you may need to jack up the rear and set some jack stands. This way you will have more room to work but more importantly more room to see what you are doing.

Hope that helps, any other question feel free to ask.

Re: 2012/2013 Mustang BOSS 302 Side Pipe Exhaust Discs For Sale

;D The 3/8" discs are in! This sounds much better. I can see that the 5/8", that I also have, would probably suit me better. I figured as much, which is why I went with the 3/4" first. 8) I'll change them if they seem too loud after a while, but I'm enjoying them right now.

I didn't think I'd get to these until this weekend, as I need new ramps. On the way to lunch, I decided to stop by a muffler shop and just see what they'd charge. When he said $20 and agreed that it would take 15 minutes, tops, I was in. Saves me an hour and I put off the new ramps until later. ;) When he said he could do it right then, I was real happy I stopped by the shop.

Best $20 I've spent in a while. Same goes for these discs. Great bang-for-the-buck!

I'm running the wide open and think it sounds pretty stout, what's the comparison to the 3/4 disc, for those that have tried both

Wide open sounds great on the track or even around town but for me it gets old driving on the fwy and I use the 7/8" discs except when I'm going to a track. I've been thinking about installing a set of 3/4". Having the discs installed makes it easier for me to hear my music or talk on my BT ear bud at fwy speeds. You get less of the jake brake sound as the discs get smaller. The discs are all about tuning the sound to your liking and they all sound better than the stock discs. ;)
