I’ve been out of actual racing for 10 years now (vintage raced 65 Mustang) and I’m thinking of something like SCCA Spec Mustang or NASA Spec Iron. For NASA, there doesn’t seem to be any participation in Texas for Spec Iron. The SCCA series is new… and well it’s too bad the rules don’t line up...
I just saw a review of the catalyst and at the moment I don't think it can do point to point events.I don't really care about being competitive in this event I just don't see the enjoyment of letting electronics controlling stuff.Get off my lawn!
If you were not under 0.1 seconds the target time then you had little chance of winning in most classes. I can’t see how that can done without a computer controlling your car’s speed at finish line.
I ran the 110mph class ( max allowed speed was 124, min 80 for this class), finished 15 out of 31 cars just using a stopwatch and resetting the trip odometer timer as a backup. I think we were off by combined 1.6 seconds for both 59 mile runs.It was a fun event but a little pricey for a...
I’m doing the BBOR event next week for first time, so speed limited as a rookie. A friend did this last year and talked me in to joining him this time.
Today was safety day. TMO vendor Mike Scott providing seat belt mounts; local Texas vendor Ultrashield, providing HANS specific harnesses with extra long sub belts; ,and a new Halotron fire extinguisher with quick disconnect roll bar mount.I was not sure how long the sub belts needed to be...
Changed the oil and went for another ride with the new MGW shifter/shift knob setup. The taller knob definitely provides more leverage over the gate springs. Sanded off the anodizing on the lower part of the knob and polished it and the spacer. A little lower would be ok, but I've run out...
Second, a "tall" gripper shifter from MGW.This took more work. It uses 12x1.25 thread which are lower on the MGW shifter. It's no taller than the stock shift knob with their OEM adapter.I bought a 10mm to 12mm thread adapter and cut the bottom off of an 12mm shift knob boot cover to get...
Overall positive on the shifter. The quality is second to none and I’m wondering how they manage to sell at their price point.Pros:
No rattling
Very precise, no slop in anything
Feels like shorter throws though nothing to back that up
Includes 1/4 Allen socket, 3/32” punch, blue thread locker...
The review will have to wait until tomorrow. Too late to crank up beast....Initial impression, not driving, is very nice, precise, smooth.I need a lift, I’m too old for crawling under cars on jack stands. Its tricky removing the front two linkage bolts. Not a lot of room because I couldn’t...
