Watson Racing 4 pt. roll bar install

I still had the pictures so I went back to the original post and edit it with the pictures. I can also provide an update since this original post. I run about 3 events per year and install the roll bar before and remove after each event. I have never had any issues doing this other than one sill...

Continental Tires on Sale at Hoosiertire.com

Had 2 tires mounted on 18 X 10 X 42 Forgestar wheels to check front clearance. Good news is the tires clear. My car is all stock with trimmed front sway bar link bolts. Bad news is my tires shrank when they mounted them. Here's a comparison to unmounted tires. Hard to believe they are the same...

Continental Tires on Sale at Hoosiertire.com

My set of 305-660-18's just got in yesterday. Couldn't believe how much wider they are compared to my Pirelli DH's mounted on 10" rims. I had test fit an older 305-660-18 Conti GT-I in the front before on Forgestar 42 offset wheels with good clearance. Not so sure about clearance issues with these.

Continental Tires on Sale at Hoosiertire.com

Looks like they just released a bunch of tires in several sizes for people running 18 in wheels. G5000 for$150, G6000 run about twice as much this year.

    Safety upgrade for HPDE

I'm in a similar situation as you since I DD my car all summer and go to about 3 HPDE events per year. What I did was set up the Watson 4 point roll bar with a 6 point harness and the sub belt mounts from Mike [06Mach1]. I remove the rear seats and a few interior panels and mount the roll bar...

    Starter damage on track

I had the car at the dealership while I was on vacation. I tried unsuccessfully to see if Ford might cover this as I was just 2 months outside my warrantee and just got the car home last weekend. I finally got the transmission out last night and found that the outside ring on the starter had...

    Starter damage on track

I really wanted to dig into the car last weekend, but made an appointment to have the dealer look at my starter issue tonight. When I put the starter back in, I measured the distance between the gear ring and the engine side of the fly wheel and saw the gear is 0.030" forward of the flywheel...

    Starter damage on track

Thanks that helps a lot. I'm pretty sure I can get my calipers in there. Will measure tonight and compare. I know crank axial end play is very small so I'm not too optimistic since my wife said she saw the crank pulley move when I pried the flywheel, but I would be real excited if it was just a...

    Starter damage on track

I may have mis-stated what I believe happened. I did not see the movement since I was working through the small starter opening, but I am sure the flywheel did move with the crank. The reason I mentioned this is because I tried it the day before and didn't see anything. It's just that it was...

    Starter damage on track

I did look into the gear ring possibly shifting, the front face of the gear is slightly behind the front face of the flywheel so it's not obvious that it has moved, but without a new flywheel to compare to, I can't tell for sure.I did see something that was somewhat disturbing last night. I...

    Starter damage on track

ArizonaBOSS, I agree, it makes no sense that the flywheel would have shifted and that the car feels normal. Clutch engagement is normal, the engine and car feels very smooth driving [no vibration].TMSBOSS, yes everything is stock on the entire powertrain and never been apart. I have about 36k...

    Where's Wally

Nick,I've never got to meet you, but know you from the forum and have admired your very impressive lap times. I was at the event and heard of a heavy impact involving a GT-350R, just never knew it was you until Sunday when another forum member mentioned it. I did meet both Steve's at the event...

    Starter damage on track

Thanks for all the great feedback. The starter was tight onto the bell housing I just checked the ring gear and it does not appear to have shifted, but I can't tell for sure without a new flywheel to reference. I don't think this was a result of the starter gear engaging the flywheel. It may...
