  1. S197 3V Help finding brake booster?

Yeah, but they want $450 for the one that works with my 2006: https://www.raceramps.com/car-storage/ramps/flatstoppers/p/rr-fs-10/I may suck it up and get that one, but I'd love to hear from someone whether the GT500 booster is worth the difference in price for someone with a big brake kit.
  2. S197 3V Help finding brake booster?

I got my 2006 GT out to the track yesterday for the first time since getting a cage installed. Unfortunately my brake booster died within the first three laps of the day! (I managed to salvage something out of the day by bumming a drive behind the wheel of a ZR1 and a well-modded C6 for a couple...
  3. Hankook RS4's

Hankook Motorsports usually has more stock of the RS4s than Tire Rack. In addition to the ones Bill recommended, I'd add the Goodyear Supercar 3s.
  4. S197 [TBD] Racing endurance car

Thanks @ArizonaBOSS ! We have one from Kohr in there—definitely important to have.
  5. S197 [TBD] Racing endurance car

Well, this project seems to be having trouble getting off the ground! Since the last update we decided we'd better address the transmission: the throwout bearing needed replacing, and since we were going to be in there I decided we should get a new clutch (and flywheel) installed. I then started...
  6. Brake Pad/Rotor Upgrade for track days

I'll also note that swapping pads between street and track can leave you with some nasty deposits on the rotors that'll cause a lot of judder, depending on the specific compounds in play. Then you end up having to bed-in the pads each time you switch. Not the end of the world, but something the...
  7. S197 3V TR-3650 rebuilders?

Thanks! The Lucky Dog rules would allow us to swap in the T45, but if we ever want to run in any of the NASA or SCCA classes I think we'd be out of luck, so at this point I'm going to try to stick with the 3650.In fact, now I'm just leaning towards a new clutch and throw-out bearing and...
  8. S197 3V TR-3650 rebuilders?

They offer a mid-priced option, but again not a lot of details on what separates it from a $1,300 rebuild. They do offer parts, though! If I end up dealing with a company that doesn't require a core, then Lashbrook could be a good source for parts to rebuild the original as a spare. Thanks!
  9. S197 3V TR-3650 rebuilders?

Thanks, guys! Hanlon stood out as one company that provides more detail about their builds than most. That 10-week wait time, though… quality takes time!
  10. S197 3V TR-3650 rebuilders?

As y'all may recall, I'm building an '06 GT into an endurance road racer. It seems that the transmission, which has 140,000+ miles on it, has a throw-out bearing that needs replacing. I've called all the local transmission shops and none of them want to rebuild it, either because they don't want...
  11. S197 [TBD] Racing endurance car

It's alive! The car had a successful first outing last Saturday at Thunderhill West. Frankly I was surprised, given the scope of work that we'd done to it, but I'm not complaining!A few small issues did crop up: the gas gauge likes to drop to empty randomly, and the shift from second to third...
  12. S197 [TBD] Racing endurance car

Setback! While installing Steeda's Stage 3 front strut apparently we got the nut with the anti-rotation tab on the wrong side. We didn't know there was a "correct" side, but it rotated down while tightening and put some pressure on the top of the black cap at the bottom of the strut and let a...
  13. Ford Racing Oil Pan Contact

Had the same left-hand side clearance issue with the Moroso deep sump pan on my '06. Took a die grinder to cut the edge off the subframe and then re-welded along that edge. Won't know if I have enough clearance until my first test day June 11, though…
  14. Steeda heavy duty engine mounts - yes or no?

Prothane mounts are another option, but really for a street car the OEM mounts are just fine.
  15. S197 [TBD] Racing endurance car

Started working on the interior, too: FP quick release steering wheel and MGW shifter installed.
