The MK IV also has a passenger seat. It's a ... more intense experience than the MK II. No passenger made it more than 1.5 laps around COTA before throwing in the towel :biggrin:
Apologies for non-Mustang content, but as Ford Performance lovers I suspect y'all will enjoy this. This was my first time driving the MK IV, and I had the opportunity to hoon it around COTA for some 30 laps. There's more in it with setup changes and a bit more seat time, but it (and I) still...
765 was competently driven and on slicks. It was a surprisingly even match - the 765 was of course faster on the straights, the GT4 was quicker in the corners and, to a lesser extent, braking. We ended up running lap times less than 0.5s apart.
To be clear, I didn't get asked to put down a deposit. Ford invited me to the launch event, and sent me my chassis number inscribed on a coin. It was a very classy move.It looks to me like they handpicked a set of folks that they expect will drive these beasts in anger once they're released...
It's a bit like saying "why would someone spend $620K on a 911? Do what you want to it, it's still a 911." Except this Mustang is still street legal, while the 911 GT2RS Clubsport is a track toy only.The answer is (a) it's a street legal car which (my fearless prediction) will absolutely blow...
Substantial seat time in the GT4+ coupled with cool (for August) conditions at Sonoma this morning yielded a 1:39.66, a 1.3 sec improvement over my previous best time in the Mustang.
