I was running today at MPH in my Boss. I had the opportunity to take a Laguna Seca out for a session with TracKey. To me the differences were very noticable. The most significant differences that I noticed were much more aggressive engine braking and significantly improved throttle response. I didn't have my laptimer in the Laguna Seca so I can't say for certain how much effect it had on laptimes. Since it wasn't my car I wasn't going to push it 10/10ths. Oh and by the way the lopey idle was pretty cool.
How did the LS owner have track key?

Is TracKey a no go? I read on another form that the TracKey may be pushed back til Dec. now. I wonder if they are having to change the orginal format to get it to pass. I don't know if I want a watered down version. I want the orginal that they finished this past spring. It may be that they will not get it to pass any other way. Can't think of anything else that they would be waiting on. Anybody got an inside scoop on this thing.

No offense to you guys in CA, but Ford should make a separate Track Key for 49 state and for CA if CARB is the bottleneck. They can police it through vehicle registrations. This has to be costing Ford some big bucks.

Agreed, but someone at some point had stated that if they can't release it for all 50 states, they won't release it at all.

I really hope TracKey does not get cancelled..........it's one of the reasons we all bought the car! But with little to no news, it's not looking good.

I have seen video of a Ford guy saying that, but I think that was back when they probably thought it was going to be approved and released quicker and it seemed like the right thing to say. At this point that will be a bigger problem for Ford. We all bought the BOSS with trackey as a selling point (and many other reasons). So if they pull the "carb didn't approve it, so none of you get it" - the you know what will hit the fan in 49 other states. So not only will they have a whole bunch of angry 12 BOSS owners calling, but many potential 13 BOSS buyers may go elsewhere.

The Trackey is the one of the selling points for me to order a new 2013.if they have no Trackey, I guess a GT500 might be going in the garage instead. If I was the owner with a 2012,Id be really pissed off by now.but what do you do now? just my 2 cents

I'm not sure what you're expecting of TK but it's not going to turn a Boss into a GT500. If that's what you're thinking you should save up the extra money and buy a GT500. These cars are targeted to two different market segments. I've driven a TK equipped car and in general people have their expectations too high. Many think they are going to use it on the street but I sure won't be. With the more agrresssive throttle response and engine braking the car will not be smooth driving around town in traffic. Additionally Ford has never advertised that there will be more HP. If TK is a make a break deal for you then don't buy a Boss 302.

Sorry guys but it's not just CA. There are thirteen other states that follow CARB plus the District of Columbia. That covers over half the US population. Be patient it's almost here.

I'm with you, I too hope that it doesn't get canceled. It had nothing to do with my purchase, but I sure hope that we still get it.

At some point if Ford doesn't start providing some information, maybe we need to schedule a date for all BOSS owners to call FCS and start applying some pressure. I have a feeling that if they were bombarded with thousands of calls on the same day, they might open up a bit and give us some info.

I agree the TracKey isn't going to turn the Boss into some sort of transformer machine. But, it is advertised to dial in serious parameters that the track guys here should be able to use to their advantage on race day. As I'm only streeting mine, I can't say I ever expected to use TracKey on a regular basis - plus we've already been informed that TracKey tune will significantly reduce gas mileage.

But, for short stints and just the fun of it I will definitely use it on occasion and enjoy the performance differentials on my frequent blasts out in the country roads. If one wants the top shelf raw power and pretty darned good handling to boot, then the current GT 500s are the way to go. I prefer a lighter car and balanced performance with the naturally aspirated V8 of the Boss which is why I went with it...that and the fact that it is a "factory" car.

I agree with most. It wasn't a make or break sales point for me, but it sweetened the deal knowing that I have the option. It's something never before offered and has the "cool factor". If they would have just listed it as a possible future option, then we should't expect anything until it's released. However, I do think Ford owes us an explanation since it was demo'd and promised.

Yep I agree. It's 3-4 months over due from the first promise date and Ford should release something publically on it. Ford is reading this forum and others so hopefully we hear something soon.

FWIW....I got an email from my dealer that said they were expecting TK in early Oct.

If Ford can't get the TK passed in the form they intended then we'll get some sort of watered down TK from them. If they didn't give us a TK then they would be open to lawsuits or some other consumer action. So we might just get a very mild tune from TK.

My disappointment in TK comes from Ford not really being ready for CARB. Were they ignorant or arrogant?
